General Info

Jim Cohen, former president and chief executive of Central Hardware, is getting back into the retail business with a Sears Hometown Store he plans to open in April in Overland Plaza off Page Avenue and Interstate 170. In addition to his career with Central Hardware and his deep St. Louis roots, Jim's also a decorated Veteran who proudly served the United States Navy during the Vietnam war. After service, Jim was recognized by the AMVETS ( American Veterans of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam ) when they awarded him with the SILVER HELMET AMERICANISM AWARD. Other winners of this award include historic Americans like Harry S Truman, Herbert S. Hoover, John Wayne, Peter Coors and many others. Sears Hometown Stores is a unique retailing concept that combines the feel and exceptional customer service of a small community store with the wide assortment of tools, appliances, electronics and lawn & garden merchandise offered by Sears, Roebuck, and Co. stores. This unique format allows customers to have access to the great products and brands usually only found in Sears stores.
