In the fall, I bought six rose bushes. At the time of purchase, I inquired if the bushes would come back in the spring and the young man guaranteed they would. I replied, if they don't I will. Well, my sister visited my house and she said all six were dead. I said, are you sure, do you think they are in dormant condition, and she replied, no they are dead! I dug them up and was going to return the next day. Just to let you know, I am caregiver for my father, who is 94, and a WWII veteran, who landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He is full of history, but his legs don't work anymore, so he has to use a wheelchair or scooter, but his mind is brilliant still. It was his $80.00 that I spent in the fall, so I was trying to get some type of compensation. I quit my job to care for my mother who had dementia, who passed in 2015 and now I care for my dad. So, I have no income, but that is not important to me, the well being of my parents is. So we live in Illinois, I load up my father for the road trip and there is all kinds of constructions but we make it to our destination, Bayer Garden Shop on Hampton. I use to work nearby at the credit union and that is why I am familiar with this nursery. Well, there is no handicap parking so, I park at the side, get out the wheelchair, have dad hold the box of roots and get to the end of street. I wheel dad up and the gentlemen is waiting on another customer. He comes back into the building and I proceed to tell him that I have a return. He immediately says we don't take back rose bushes. I ask to speak to manager. He calls him for me. He came over from the main building. Then he says the same thing. He said rose bushes aren't doing good anymore and they barely last annually. I ask if he could give me at least one free rose bush. Then he says, if I buy two rose bushes at $40.00, he will give me a free one. No thank you, after you just told me that they won't last more than a year?I had ask him several times and gave him the opportunity to be sensitive to our distress, and to do his utmost to relieve that distress. I offered him the opportunity of doing a kind deed for someone, and then to turn away instead, will impoverish him more than us. It is a basic rule of life that it is impossible to enrich other people's lives through good deeds without enriching your own life at the same time. Giving yourself and service to others is the privilege of everyone who loves and serves Christ with a sincere heart. To have given one rose bush may not have cost a lot, but the gratification would have been endless and you would have a light heart instead of a heavy one. Always do good, and it will follow you and return double. You never know what each individual's circumstances are, be kind, there is just to much greed and hate in this world. Pay it forward. You work in such beauty, God's world, yet you are not beautiful, Why? Have you ask yourself that question? I pray that God takes away your hard turtle shell. I use to have an Aunt that would have ample tomatoes in her vegetable garden, but she would let them rot before she would share one with you. Don't be like that, you will probably have left over rose bushes that will die this year, and they could have flourished in my garden???Alicia Berrios Gregory Lopez

We love Bayer's and have always gone to them for any gardening decision. They are all very helpful. The selection is also very good, esp at their Imperial location!They also have a landscaper who can design your yard on the pc!
