Very good restaurant located in wonderful Historic Downtown St. Charles. The atmosphere is so inviting and comfortable and the décor is very eye-catching. My main dish was the burger and it was one of the best burgers I have ever tasted. My favorite drinks were the Jacob's Mule drink and Smokey Sangria. I highly recommend giving Hendricks a try if you have not already – you are missing out.

I would HIGHLY recommend this BBQ place in St Charles - just make the drive if you're anywhere in the STL area. We've been to many of the other highly recommended BBQ places in the area and this is by far Really the best in BBQ !!!
The atmosphere, drink menu, food , decor and location is great!

Since the weather was unseasonably beautiful yesterday, my girlfriend and I went for a bike ride on the Katy Trail. Time got away from us and we started to get hungry. I remembered seeing something on Facebook about Hendricks BBQ a few weeks ago and checked the address. We were only a few minutes away and the Katy Trail actually runs right behind their parking lot. Since they have a large patio and the weather was all sunshine, we requited seat outside.

We started with Smoked Sangria and BBQ Nachos – both did not disappoint. I have never had baked beans on Nachos but the subtle hint of sweetness was unlike anything I had ever tasted. I ordered Chicken in a Biscuit, which our server recommended as it is a signature item and my girlfriend got the BBQ Cobb Salad and added some pork. Everything was delicious and if we hadn’t been on our bikes, I would have got the rest of my Mac and Cheese to go.

Our server was friendly, attentive and made excellent recommendations for us to try since we were “newbies”.

As avid bike riders, I think we have found our Sunday Sunday spot.

A wonderful Friday night! BBQ is as much about the food as the experience. Our party of 6 tasted nearly everything, with the brisket, pulled pork and mac & cheese voted our favorites. The reclaimed water works building creates a wonderful atmosphere, and the live blues music drifting up from the basement complimented the setting. Kale (our server's name) was wonderful! After 2 hours of good food and good times, we left fat & happy. And the bill?.... less than $100, or roughly $15/person.

My first (and last) experience for this restaurant was not pleasant. We ordered Carry Out and chose "The Whole She-bang" for $36, which describes a sample of all of their BBQ and 4 sides. Usually when a meal is that expensive, it's enough to feed a family...which is what we were trying to do (2 adults and a toddler). With that order and an appetizer of Deviled Eggs, the total came out to be $47.

Not only do they have insufficient parking (none for carry out), but as soon as the food was brought home, I was displeased. The food was one to-go box of a few pieces of meat, and the sides are in 4oz sauce containers. About 3 bites. But we had also asked for one of the sides to be fries, and one was green beans. When you're spending $50 on food, (it also looks like regular bbq) you expect to get what you pay for (if they claim it's that good). They instead of giving us the fries, that was for my daughter, they gave us double the order of green beans that's in both 8oz containers, vs the 4oz containers of the other sides. This food will only suffice for one person.

I call Hendricks BBQ and Amber answers the phone, the one who took our order. I politely asked to speak with a supervisor, she asked my name, then grabbed a manager, Scott. I explain to him everything and to my surprise instead of sounding concerned, at one point inadvertently talks back to me. When I asked how he's going to accommodate me, he tells me that he'll get me a free drink or take 'a couple' of dollars off our next meal. I explained that a couple of dollars off won't do to which he replies that a messed up order of fries isn't enough to compensate $50. I told him that I'm a first time customer and that I'm very dissatisfied with not only the service, but with how management handles complaints. He told me he'd call his manager and have her call me back.

Needless to say, we got in our car and returned the food to be reimbursed completely. Even though we live down the street on 2nd, we drove 15 minutes and had a BBQ meal at Bandanas. What I got from Hendricks for $40, I was able to get for 12.99 at Bandana's. Our family's meal was only $40, and triple the amount we received at Hendricks BBQ.

Hendricks will forever leave a bad taste in my mouth and I don't have any high expectations for their over-priced, bad serviced food. It's a shame that I think this business is such a failure bc it has potential for the location. Living near Main Street, I can say that all of the restaurants are great with the exception of Hendricks. And after reading some previous reviews, we are happy we didn't give their food a chance.
