- Primary CareMegan earned her Master of Health Services-Physician Assistant degree at University of California, Davis. During her training at UC Davis, she developed a non-melanoma skin cancer screening tool for her master’s thesis to help educate primary care providers on how to identify non-melanoma skin cancers as well as perform routine skin exams. She is a Diplomate Fellow of The Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) and member of The American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery (ASLMS). - Mohs SurgeryIn 2016, a biopsy on her back came back as Melanoma in-situ, or stage 0. She caught it early. Caitlin had MOHs surgery and was cleared. The mother of four is now a big advocate for skin exams and encourages her friends to know what to look for in detecting changing moles. High-risk doesn’t mean you have to avoid the sun, but, as Caitlin did, you should practice safe sun habits and get checked regularly.
- BotoxThese injectables are made from the botulinum toxin type A. Back in the 1950s, it was discovered that when a minuscule amount of the toxin was injected into a muscle, it temporarily stopped the muscle from contracting. Botox came from this research and was first approved by the FDA for the treatment of involuntary eyelid spasms. It became famous in 2002, when the FDA approved Botox for use on the upper third of the face for wrinkle treatment.

- Skin CancerCaitlin grew up in sunny Sacramento, but had not had a skin exam until a friend was diagnosed with melanoma at a young age and encouraged all of her friends to get skin exams. Being fair-skinned and a big fan of the outdoors, Caitlin made an appointment right away. Her first skin exam at Laser & Skin resulted in seven biopsies. Thankfully, all were benign, but marked her as high-risk and therefore, in need of skin exams every six months.

Widely published and on numerous medical advisory boards, Dr. Kilmer has served on the Board of Directors for ASDS and ASLMS, as well as former President and current Secretary for ASLMS.
