- Medical Weight LossMany people notice it to one extent or another: The dreaded double chin. This is how we typically refer to submental fat, that fat that collects under the chin and around the neck, affecting your profile and your overall facial appearance. While losing weight may assist in reducing a double chin, many people are dismayed to discover that even after weight loss, they are not seeing the slimmer look and facial profile they desire.
- Internal MedicineHe attended U.C Davis where he excelled in his studies and received early admission to UCLA School of Medicine after only three years of undergraduate studies. Upon completing his medical studies and a 1-year pathology fellowship Dr. Tanghetti graduated first in his class and received the Dean Warren medal for academic excellence. After finishing residencies in internal medicine at Stanford University and dermatology at Harvard School of Medicine, he completed a photo-medicine fellowship at the Wellman labs at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

- ThyroidThe cause of vitiligo is unknown, but the auto-immune theory of this condition is best supported by current laboratory studies. Vitiligo can be associated with immune disorders such as thyroid disease, diabetes, anemia, and psoriasis. A blood test to check for these disorders can be helpful. Occasionally there can be inflammation in the eye with vitiligo. Any ocular problems should be evaluated by an ophthalmologist.
- ChemotherapyTreatment of SCC largely depends on the stage at which the lesion is diagnosed. For in-situ lesions, cryosurgery, topical chemotherapy with 5-FU or imiquimod, and photodynamic therapy have all been used successfully.* Surgical excision is also appropriate but can be destructive.* For the more aggressive invasive lesions, excisional surgery with clear margins is ideal.* After having this type of skin cancer regular follow-up at 6-12 month intervals is ideal since recurrence and the development of new lesions remains a possibility.*

- Mohs SurgeryMohs surgery is a highly specialized and precise treatment for skin cancer in which the cancer is removed in stages, one tissue layer at a time. Once a tissue layer is removed, it is examined under a microscope to check for cancerous cells. This process is repeated until the cancer cells are no longer present.
- BotoxBotox and Dysport are quick, easy, and painless. None of these treatments are invasive and all result in a significant reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Plastic SurgeryAn important tool we utilize to restore and rejuvenate the face, dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines and soften creases, or perform more substantial facial rejuvenation.* Our experienced staff expertly utilizes dermal fillers to give our patients a natural, refreshed and more youthful appearance.* As we age, we lose bone mass, fat and collagen which can contribute to a more aged appearance. Though there are a variety of products and treatments we offer to address surface changes to the skin due to aging and sun damage, including topical retinoids and laser treatments, these treatments will not address the underlying volume loss in the face. Even plastic surgery procedures, such as facelifts, do not tackle this issue, but dermal fillers can.
- Face LiftIf you have fine lines or wrinkles around your eyes or mouth or on your forehead, shallow scars from acne, or non-responsive skin after a facelift, then you may be a good candidate for laser skin resurfacing. If you have acne or if you have very dark skin, you may not be a candidate. This technique is also not recommended for stretch marks. You should discuss whether laser resurfacing is right for you by consulting with the doctor before having the procedure done. Schedule Online

- Skin CancerSun damage describes premature aging of the skin and skin cancer due to overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays. There are two types of UV rays that cause damage to the skin: UVA and UVB. UVA are longer waves that give you a tan, but they also activate the skin in an unhealthy way. UVA rays are not responsible for sunburns. They penetrate the skin much deeper than UVB rays and trigger premature aging and skin cancer. UVB rays are shorter waves that are responsible for sunburns, but they can also accelerate early signs of aging. UVB rays are considered the most common cause of skin cancers.
- DermatologyThe Center for Dermatology and Laser Surgery was one of the first centers to introduce lasers into an office-based practice.
- Acne TreatmentTreating acne involves the use of multiple products in combination to address the key pathophysiologic elements of sebaceous gland hyperactivity, comedone formation, and inflammation elicited by p-acnes.* One of the important cornerstones of acne treatment is benzoyl peroxide also known as BPO.* This impressive product is basically a high oxidizing agent that directly kills p-acnes and does not involve the use of an antibiotic. In fact, chronic use of an antibiotic as a single agent does invariably lead to resistance. However, when used in combination with BPO, resistance is prevented despite continued use of the antibiotic.*

- EczemaPhototherapy has been a useful treatment for psoriasis for 100 years.* Narrowband UVB and the Excimer laser are the most modern tools available to treat this problem.* We were the first to introduce phototherapy to Sacramento and maintain a full line of devices that can be tailored to an individual’s current needs. Dr. Tanghetti trained at the Wellman lab of Harvard University in all aspects of phototherapy and laser surgery. We also use PUVA therapy, a form of oxsoralen and UVA light, to treat more resistant forms of psoriasis and eczema, especially on the palms and soles of the feet. We also use it to treat T-cell lymphoma of the skin and Mycosis Fungoides.
- LesionsVitiligo is a pigmentation disorder that results in white discoloration of the skin. This can appear at any time of life, often causing devastating psychological consequences. It involves males and females equally. While the white lesions are very noticeable, there are no other symptoms associated with the lesions. The psychological consequences of this condition can be devastating for people with darker skin, whose lightened skin due to this condition is very noticeable.
