      Acadia Realty Trust specializes in acquisition, redevelopment and operation of shopping centers anchored by grocery and value-oriented retail. The company is a fully integrated and self-managed real estate investment trust. In 2004, Acadia Strategic Opportunity Fund II was launched with $300 million of discretionary equity. Through Fund II, Acadia Realty is pursuing two primary strategic initiatives. The urban/in-fill program aims to capitalize on under-served urban retail markets by investing in redevelopment projects in dense, urban areas where tenant demand has surpassed available site supply. The company teamed with P/A Associates in 2004 to launch the New York City portion of the urban/in-fill platform. The company currently owns and operates properties totaling 10 million square feet located primarily in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwestern regions of the United States. Acadia Realty Trust is headquartered in White Plains, N.Y. It trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol AKR.
