- Pediatric CareA hospitalist is a physician who specializes in the care of hospitalized patients and their unique conditions. Hospitalists typically specialize in internal medicine, although there are some hospitalists trained in family medicine and pediatrics. Our hospitalists are board-certified or board-eligible in internal medicine. Because hospitalists do not maintain a practice outside of the hospital, they can focus all of their attention on patients inside of the hospital.
- Primary CareHospitalists manage your hospital care, coordinating and consulting with specialists, monitoring your progress and staying in close touch with you and your family. The assistance of other physicians, nurses and support staff allows us to deliver a coordinated team approach to your care. While managing the entire inpatient care process, the hospitalist will keep in close contact with your primary care physician.
- Smoking CessationPrograms usually last for 36 sessions or 3 months. The length of time varies depending upon an individual's heart problems, physician recommendations and insurance coverage. The program includes cardiovascular conditioning exercise, which includes warm-ups and cool-downs plus an intensive exercise workout on treadmills, bikes, rowers, nu-steps and the total gym. A weekly educational session on heart healthy topics is offered to patients and family members. Sessions include such topics as diet, management of heart disease, weight control, smoking cessation, exercise, cardiac medication, etc. In addition, psychological and nutritional counseling are available for support of the rehabilitation group.

- Emergency CareThe Pharmacy Department at Person Memorial Hospital provides pharmaceutical care for our Medical/Surgical patients, Emergency Department patients and clinic patients. Intravenous medications are mixed in our IV room and then delivered to the appropriate nursing station. The Pharmacy Department reviews and monitors each inpatient's medication and frequently assists the physician in determining the correct dosage based on individual situations. This department is staffed by registered pharmacists and certified pharmacy technicians.
