Briggs Engineering & Testing was originally started in Hingham, Mass., in the late 1950s. Robert Briggs founded the company to provide design consulting and testing services of asphalt and concrete products and their applications. At that time, Briggs primary focus was airports and roadways. Today, Briggs Engineering & Testing provides new construction, existing building, geotechnical and environmental, non-destructive, mechanical and road quality management services. The company has provided a host of engineering and consulting services to tens of thousands of clients, including numerous municipalities, public and private school systems, major health organizations, federal and state government agencies and a diverse private sector. Briggs is based in Rockland, Mass., and maintains a 10,000-square-foot laboratory that is fully equipped for testing the physical properties of soils, aggregates, concrete, structural steel, fireproofing, masonry and bituminous concrete.
