Dr. Dancea attended Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Romania, where he earned both his medical degree and a doctorate in physiotherapy. He then completed internships in internal medicine, surgery and family practice at the Bucharest Emergency University Hospital. Dr. Dancea completed residencies in orthopaedic surgery at Foisor Hospitalthe only hospital of orthopaedics and traumatology in Romaniaand at Colmar Hospital in France.Dr. Dancea moved to the U.S. to complete additional residencies in general surgery at New Yorks Sound Shore Medical Center and at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania. He also completed a fellowship in hand surgery at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Micro Surgery in Louisville, Kentucky. He joined Carilion Clinic in 2013.Dr. Dancea is certified by the American Board of Surgery. In addition to treating patients at Carilion Clinics Institute for Orthopaedics and Neurosciences, he is assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.Dr. Dancea takes a collaborative approach to working with patients.I always try to involve my patients in their treatment plan and care.
