My son is having his first birthday party so I knew I wanted to get him a cute cake smash cake. *for anyone that does not know a cake smash cake is a small personal cake for just the child to eat*. I wasn't looking for a $200 fondant cake. So I called them up and placed an order for 2 dozen cupcakes and small 6 inch cake circus themed. I told the girl who was super nice over the phone. Our colors were Red, Blue and White- I explained the blue wasn't baby blue nor Dark blue but in between. I asked for circus flags around the cake in those colors. She said no problem and they would even add circus animals! I was so excited! Fast forward to party day *today* I went to pick up the cake. The man at the counter opens the box and that cake WAS NOT what I pictured or asked for. The cake was TEAL green with orange cheese colored flags, yellow...just a mess. The fondant was cookie cutter pieces- the lion looked like a dog. The cake look like crap. It was bad. I held it together but I lost it in the car! What was I going to do! My son's birthday party is in less than 2 hours!! Thank god for whole foods. My mom is picking up a new cake last minute!

Anyways I showed my husband when I got home and he was pretty pissed off. He called and was put on hold for 3 minutes..then Robert answers the phone. He tells my husband it was MY fault because I ordered over the phone and how their cakes start at $200. EXCUSE me for ordering a cake and 2 dozen cupcakes. I guess a paying customer under $100 is a piece of crap for bothering. I wish I could post a picture of this cake on here because it's BAD! I would NEVER EVER recommend anyone to use CAKEBOX for cakes, and now I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM FOR ANYTHING AFTER THEIR HORRIBLE ATTITUDE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I love the cupcakes...perfect size & delicious. Don't try to order cupcakes without calling way ahead of time. Otherwise they will tell you they've met their "quota" for the day, and they are a tad over priced!

I love The Cake Box. The cupcakes are just amazing, and not too big. They did a cake for my daughter's birthday and it was out of this world. They did a custom frosting design that tied in with the invitation - it was beautiful.

Thought I'd give The Cake Box a try when it came time to order a cake for my son's party. I stopped by the store in the days prior to the event and bought some cupcakes to try. The cupcakes were delicious. Thinking the cupcakes were indicative of what a cake would taste like, I ordered a cake. The buttercream frosting was delicious, but the cake was dry. Guests at my party commented on how bad the cake was and many did not eat their cake. Very disappointing considering the hefty price tag. Stop and Shop makes a better cake for a fraction of the price.
