Going to So Chic was the worst salon experience I've had in my life. Not only was Kira rude but provided unsanitary and unacceptable service. When I arrived, I asked for a trim and was told she didn't have the time. I sit in the chair expecting her to detangle my hair because I have natural hair. Instead of shampooing my hair and conditioning it. She decided to take a spray bottle and wet my hair and told me that she doesn't shampoo and condition for bridal trials only styles it (mind you I have a wet head at this point so getting up and leaving isn't an option). She then proceeds to blow dry my hair with all my residue from my wash and go (gels and butters) and tells me I need to wash my hair more and that it has an odor. (I'm sitting here like, well obviously I came in expecting a shampoo for my hair). She then told me how she doesn't recommend flat ironing my hair for a desired style because she thinks the humidity would damage it on the wedding day. If she properly shampooed and gave my hair a blow out or silk press it would've had body rather than wetting it with a bottle and blow drying it. I show her he styles I want and she says she thinks brides should be modern and wear their natural (Afro) hair and not wear veils (they're overdone). At this point I'm just really over the appointment and want her to get her hands out of my hair. She then attempts (failure) to put my hair in an up do. I was better off putting it and a pony tail and leaving.
If you are looking for any service, I would avoid this salon - especially if you're a bride. She was so negative, rude, unsanitary and provided terrible service. I came in from out of town to have this appointment and now have to get my hair re done. I would not trust Kira with my hair if I were you.
This woman is a magician. I left her chair with the best haircut and my hair in the best condition of my life. Not only did she work pure magic on my tresses, but she educated me on how to properly care for natural/transitioning hair. She is smart, witty, and talented! Her station in the Sola Salon is also clean and comfortable, offering a relaxing atmosphere. She is great! I would recommend her to anyone who needs a new look or some routine maintenance!
