Wonderful service and great with children. Dr. Heiner and Hacking are both absolutely fantastic to deal with. I appreciated all the options and considerations they shared with my wife and I for our families vision needs. A pleasure to deal with and very willing to take time with each of us to make sure of proper fitting and comfort.

I went to this business to get...

I drove up from Idaho Falls to Madison Clinic Optometry in Rexburg to get help with a brand new, $822 pair of 2.5 Eyephorics that I have only had for three days. All I needed was for an experienced eye to look at the way they were fitting and measure the cable temples, as the left side needed a bit longer cable temple. I was then going to relay that measurement to the dealer in Salt Lake City from whom I purchased my glasses, and they were going to send me a longer cable temple for the left side.

Unfortunately, none of that happened. Dr. Dallin Heiner was the optometrist on hand when I walked into the clinic and it was pretty apparent from the get-go that he wasn't terribly interested in helping me. Rather than understand that I only needed a couple of seconds of his time to get help with a measurement, Dr. Heiner instead took my expensive new glasses and inexplicably and aggressively yanked the cable temples off and on repeatedly and twisted them. I noticed immediately afterward that the hinges and temples were weakened and moving up and down in a way that was not normal. I also noticed that one temple was bent at the hinge with gaps on either side of the hinge and that the glasses were no longer lying flat when placed on a table. They also were they fitting well on my face anymore. My glasses had none of these problems prior to being handled so roughly. Also, they had been feeling fine before I walked in the clinic, but after being twisted and jammed repeatedly, the glasses are now causing me ear/head pain on the side Dr. Heiner clearly damaged. Afterward, I told Dr. Heiner something wasn’t right and that he did something to my glasses. He looked at them briefly, told me me they are “supposed to be like that” and just walked away.

Unfortunately, there are no other optical shops in my area that carry Eyephoric or Swissflex frames—Madison Clinic Optometry was the only place I could find close to my location. Since Dr. Heiner carries these frames, I assumed he would know how to handle them and fit the cable temples so that I could avoid another long drive down to Salt Lake City, UT. Now, I am going to have to drive to Utah anyway to have the dealer there determine the extent of the damage to my Eyephorics and see what they can do to fix them. Based on my description of the episode and a description of the way my glasses feel and look now, the folks in Utah indicate that I may have to completely replace the temples and possibly the hinges. Again, my glasses were only 3 days old, very expensive, and in perfect condition before I went to Dr. Heiner for help.

To say I am very upset and heartsick about this event is a huge understatement. I trusted the people at Madison Clinic Optometry to help me and never expected that someone there would actually break my expensive new glasses and then callously dismiss my concerns. I just hope the damage is limited to the temple area and that Dr. Heiner did not adversely affect the mounts or the lenses in any way. I've been to other optical shops in the past and even when I didn't buy my glasses at a particular shop, they would still usually treat both me and my glasses with respect. I am sorry to say that was not my experience with Dr. Dallin Heiner at Madison Clinic Optometry.
