Reviews
We recently purchased a motorcycle from Michael's Reno Powersports and hindsight being what it is, plus had our circumstances been different, we would never have chosen this dealership to purchase from. We will not purchase from them in the future and certainly will not recommend this business to others.
We do not live in Reno and at the time of purchase, were on a motorcycle trip. Due to unexpected circumstances, we elected to purchase a new motorcycle to complete the trip.
The requirements for the purchase were . . .
- Have a hitch installed on the new motorcycle.
- Be able to deliver the motorcycle by a certain date
- Provide a cable to connect the new motorcycle to an existing trailer
For the sake of brevity, a brief description of the problems encountered are provided. The issues are . . .
The hitch had to be ordered. The hitch was delivered and installed a day later than discussed. This caused a delay in our departure, which ultimately caused more expenses for us at our destination.
It turned out that the interconnecting cable that was discussed on the first day of the sale process, does not exist (the manufacturer of the bike does not sell this item). I had to fabricate my own.
Our trade was inspected twice, the first time early in the day, when a trade in figure was established. The trade was re-inspected later in the day and the dealership lowered the trade figure, causing a renegotiation of the deal. Why two inspections . . . no reasonable, clear answer to this from the dealership.
We never saw the salesperson after the first day of purchase process (that person was absent from the dealership). From the second day on we were handed over to the finance person. We basically had to bring that person up to speed on what had been discussed/promised during our conversation with the salesperson.
The Certificate of Origin, required to title the motorcycle in our home state, was not provided to us. Later, after a phone call to the dealership, the Certificate was sent to the our local DMV (DOR) via certified mail, but was actually sent out five days after we were told that it had been mailed. The temporary registration had expired by the time the Certificate arrived, forcing the motorcycle to be parked. The dealership made no effort to track the Certificate's progress through the mailing system. They stated that they did not have a tracking number.
Errors were found on the paperwork associated with the sale.
We were sent to a local bank to get paperwork notarized. They stated the dealership notary was too busy to get this done.
The sales manager and the owner were contacted about the issues. The sales manager responded once, with a marginal apology and an offer to sell us accessories at “deep discounts”. The owner has yet to respond.
The overall attitude of the dealership sales personnel and the owner, appear to be apathetic and display disinterest in problems that were created during the sale. The “business as usual” approach, regardless of how it affects the sale appears to be the norm. Our recommendation . . . shop elsewhere first, then if you want to compare, try out Michael's, then judge for yourself.
This place is a fraud! I bought two SeaDoo's from them and paid them just under $24,000 with a cashiers check. I live out of the area and I've called and called and constantly get lied to and no one EVER returns a call. They tell me they sent the paperwork and it never arrives (twice now). I'm dealing with the sales manager, John G., and I only get the run around, lies and no returned calls.
STAY AWAY!!!! I'm contacting a lawyer. What a bunch of crap!
It definatly has the best selection of power sports in town. New or used. Lots of quads, motocycles, dirt bikes, sea do's and gear. Pricey, but who isnt. Way better than local honda.
