Provided by YP.comI too have heard wonderful things about Dr. Shae and made the treck from Redding to Red bluff. I am almost 37 weeks and now found out that he will not sign papers to include childcare while you are recovering, even though its a c section! I am beyond frusterated as I have no family here as it is and now I have to run after a 4 yr old after my c section and tying my tubes! He is the only doctor that doesnt do this! I cant drive for 2 weeks and im supposed to have my son and what? let him have free reign of the house while Im in bed? That and without childcare my son loses his spot in SCOE and at his daycare. So even when I go back to work I am without childcare and will probably have to go back to work way earlier than anticipated. I am beside myself. I am sorry I dont have a husband to help me or family here but how can a doctor say that you get no recovery time?
it doesnt help that my son has behavior problems too, so if he kicks me in the stomach while in recovery and ruptures something then what?

Provided by YP.comI heard nothing but good things about Dr. Shea, so I decided to make the dreaded trip to and from Redding and Red Bluff. The staff is nice. The office is pleasant. Overall - I give it a 5 in that area.
On the downfall - if you are on MediCal, don't expect great patient service. I'm not on MediCal by choice, but rather because my husband's insurance is unavailable to us for the time being. Before getting your first OB visit - all MediCal patients have to go through a time consuming class about pregnancy health, safety, and the do's/don'ts (ie: drinking, drugs, etc.). You are required to take this class if you are on MediCal...no other patients are required to take it (Blue Cross, Blue Shield, etc.). I find that slightly discriminatory - seeing as it doesn't matter what insurance card you hold in your wallet - it doesn't classify you by how well you are going to take care of yourself during the pregnancy.
Patient care - I have had a few issues that I attempted to discuss at one of my OB appointments - one issue I was told was pregnancy related, but to go see my normal practitioner. So if it's pregnancy related - they still wanted me to go see someone else? Doesn't make sense. My other issue - is also pregnancy related (after doing some research), and on that issue I was also told to go see my normal practitioner. Nice.
I've had private insurance for my other pregnancy, and the care I received was amazing. The care that I am getting now - it disgusts me.
So if you are on MediCal and don't mind being treated like a bottom feeder - it's a great office. If you want non-discriminatory care - I'd go somewhere else.
