I too had an amazing experience with these physicians. As an EM doc out of state, their department and practices are second to none.

I read the other two reviews and completely understand their complaints. But they should be complaining to their insurance companies, not the physicians. As an EM doc, I can tell you that the insurance companies hope and pray that patients complain about being balance billed (which is illegal - they are required by law to pay the full balance of emergency services for the usual and customary fees). This means that the physician charges a fee, and if the insurance company is not contracted with that Emergency Physician, they *should* pay the ENTIRE amount. They hate this as it takes away their ability to force EM docs into accepting a contract for $0.37 on the dollar, so they play games like determining what they deem to be usual and customary, and only send that to the patient, leaving you on the hook for the balance.

I understand $1500 seems like a lot of money for a physician’s charge, but the fact that it included airway management and critical care equates to your life being in jeopardy - is your life not worth $1500???

We have Cigna insurance. My d...

We have Cigna insurance. My daughter was seen in the emergency room of Rex Hospital by a doctor from this practice. Great doctor..no complaints with him. My complaint is that Rex Hospital is an approved Cigna provider but Raleigh Emergency Medicine Associates is not. So the insurance will pay for the hospital but not the physician. I cannot believe this practice is not affiliated with the same insurance companies as the hospital. There was no disclosure of this by anyone until I got the bill.

The Flim Flam!

*****BEWARE*******

First of all let me say the Doctor my son had was GREAT and I would not trade him for any other Doctor.

BUT the billing practices they practice here are nothing short of loan sharks! When you have an emergency you expect the best care and when you have insurance coverage you expect to pay something but not the way they do it.

I have BCBS coverage and I was billed for a emergency airway and 1.5 hours of critical care to the tune of 1500 and some change. Well I knew I had to pay something but to my surprise they billed me for the WHOLE bill even though my provider said they are a approved provider and that my bill should be only 383 bucks. So I called REMA (should be)(REAM YA) and I asked them Why am I being billed for the full bill and they say you are a approved provider and our bill should only 383? I was informed that the provider send s you a check for the 383 and you send that to us and then you pay the balance of the 1500. So your insurance coverage means nothing when it comes to this provider. Shame on these Doctors and their practices.
