General Info
Constructed in the early 1960’s, building B-49 has served as an herbarium, Range Science lab and the home of the Benson Agricultural and Food Institute. In 2008 the Benson Institute moved to the Church Office Building and B-49 underwent extensive renovations to house the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship. The Maxwell Institute was officially incorporated into the University in 1997 as the Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies (FARMS). The FARMS organization evolved over the years and was named after Neal A. Maxwell in 2006. The Maxwell Institute currently includes the Center for the Preservation of Ancient Religious Texts (CPART) and the Middle Eastern Texts initiative (METI).
