The Providence Police Department is structured into administrative, uniform, investigative and homeland security divisions. Its uniform division offers commercial enforcement and traffic control services. The department s homeland security division coordinates homeland defense resources, conducts specialized trainings, and collects, analyses and disseminates intelligence information to its local, state and federal law enforcement partners. The Providence Police Department also operates an internal investigation and inspection division that is responsible for the investigation of complaints brought against officers. Located in Providence, R.I., the department additionally provides animal control, vehicle recovery and harbor patrol services. Providence Police Department is one of the largest police departments in Rhode Island.
