General Info
Introduction: Simply stated, the Church of Christ is a nondenominational fellowship of independent congregations found in almost every country of the world. While members come from various religious and nonreligious backgrounds, they have begun a new life in Christ and share in a loving spiritual community. We seek to be Christians only but do not believe we are the only Christians. Organization: We do not seek to be part of any religious tradition or to reform any ecclesiastical organization. Instead we desire to restore the spirit, teaching and life of the early church as revealed in the New Testament. This begins with the renewal or restoration of the Creator's image in each member's life ( Colossians 3: 10 ). Restoration continues to grow as each one seeks to develop Christ-like character in an authentic Christian community. Even though we remain imperfect and flawed human beings, we experience transformation by the power of God in our lives ( Romans 12: 2 ). Leadership: No bureaucratic organization controls our congregational life. Each congregation is autonomous and selects its own spiritual leaders ( Titus 1: 5 ) called elders, pastors, bishops, overseers, or shepherds. Describing various roles of spiritual leaders, these terms are used interchangeably in the Bible ( Acts 20: 17, 28; I Peter 5: 1-4 ). Deacons work in conjunction with elders to serve the local congregations. Elders and deacons are selected according to characteristics outlined in I Timothy 3: 1-13. Local congregations support the work of an evangelist in their own area as well as missionaries to other parts of the world. Spiritual leaders prepare or equip every Christian to be a minister according to his/her giftedness. Our headquarters is in heaven, where Jesus reigns as head of the church ( Colossians 1: 18 ).l Ultimately, we are part of God's kingdom. He is at work to bring about his purposes in and through his people ( Philippians 2: 13 ). Core Beliefs: Our core beliefs are Christ-centered and biblical We have no creed but Christ, and no rule of faith except the Bible. This places responsibility on every member to commit personal Bible study. Many opportunities and resource are provided for individual growth in biblical knowledge. We encourage everyone to study and think for themselves. While or core beliefs are common orthodox Christian perspectives, we reserve the right to restudy and question all beliefs to determine if they are simply traditions of men or eternal truths taught in the scriptures. We believe the truth of God is relevant and speaks powerfully to our world. Worship Services: Worship services are characterized by simplicity and group participation like assemblies in the early church ( 1 Corinthians 14 ). Members sing, lead prayers and direct our reflections are we share in communion. Following the example of the early church, we meet in order to remember Jesus and partake of the Lord's Supper each week ( Acts 20: 7 ). Services are typically punctuated with a practical, biblical message presented by an evangelist. We take advantage of our time together to learn more about God and the Bible through a variety of classes. After our service concludes, we enjoy visiting with and encouraging each other spiritually. We value our relationship to God and to one another. When you visit one of our services, consider yourself our guest. We would be honored to have the chance to know you! Mission: Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." ( Matthew 28: 18-20 ). Our mission as a congregation is God-given. The mission to make disciples involves reaching out to the lost with the good news of Christ, advancing members to maturity in Christ and eq
