- Dental ExaminationDr. Kromhout’s comprehensive exam includes checking for decay (cavities), a visual oral cancer screening, a periodontal exam, checking for gum disease, and more. Based on this exam, Dr. Kromhout will design a personalized treatment plan to fit your dental needs.

- Teeth CleaningDr. Kromhout suggests visiting Cornerstone Dental every six months for a routine dental cleaning and exam. These appointments allow us to monitor the overall health of your mouth and discuss future treatment.

- Dental SealantsA dental sealant is a thin, plastic coating painted on the chewing surfaces of teeth — usually the back teeth (the premolars and molars) — to prevent tooth decay. The sealant quickly bonds into the depressions and grooves of the teeth, forming a protective shield over the enamel of each tooth.
- Fillings
- VeneersPorcelain veneers are designed to cover the front surface on teeth, improving the appearance. These are custom-made, thin shells of tooth-colored material that are bonded to the front of teeth. Veneers allow Dr. Kromhout to enhance your smile by changing the shape, size or length of your teeth with minimal removal of your natural tooth surface.
- CrownsA crown, also called a cap, is recommended when a tooth is fractured, severely damaged by decay or when the current restoration is much too large to withstand normal chewing function. Crowns will strengthen and protect the remaining tooth. A crown can be made from several different materials: full porcelain, porcelain fused to metal or full gold. Dr. Kromhout can discuss the best option for your treatment.
- Bridges
- Root Canal TreatmentEndodontic treatment (root canal) is sometimes necessary if the nerve of the tooth becomes inflamed or infected. This can occur due to a deep cavity, injury to the tooth, repeated dental work on that tooth, or crack/chip. This inflammation or infection can cause mild to severe discomfort. Dr. Kromhout can alleviate the pain by removing the inflamed or infected nerve, carefully cleaning the inside of the canal, then filling and sealing the space. After the root canal therapy, a crown or other restoration is placed on the tooth to protect and restore it to full function.
- Deep CleaningAt each checkup, we will evaluate your gums for periodontal disease and address problem areas with non-surgical therapy. Patients with periodontal disease may benefit from scaling and root planning (SRP). This process involves scaling away hardened plaque below the gum line, planing roots to eliminate rough areas prone to plaque buildup, and administering an antibiotic to fight bacteria.
- DenturesDepending on the number of missing teeth, Dr. Kromhout may suggest a full or partial denture to help improve your smile. Dentures and partial dentures replace missing teeth and the surrounding tissues with a removable dental appliance. Acrylic resin teeth are attached to gum-colored plastic bases, which may or may not require a metal framework.
- Dental ImplantsA dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. The implant is a small metal screw made of titanium which is inserted into the bone of the jaw. Over time the jawbone integrates with the implant surface, creating a solid foundation. Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.
