      Established in 1967, Portland West is a community-based organization that servers low-income individuals and their families. The organization offers education, counseling, housing support and job training programs. It operates English as a Second Language Program that serves adult students from various countries, such as Somalia, Sudan, Burundi, Iraq, China, Brazil, Vietnam and Morocco. Portland West provides guidance, leadership development and community involvement programs for youths. The organization also hosts classroom instruction and life skills training. It offers a variety of preschool activities, such as dance, music, block building, story telling, and arts and crafts for toddlers. In addition, Portland West is located in Portland, Maine.
