- CrownsWhen the integrity of a tooth is compromised by a large amount of decay, fracture or a large filling, a crown covers the remaining tooth structure to protect the tooth from further breakdown. Crowns may also be used to improve the esthetics of your smile by fixing misaligned and/or discolored teeth. The majority of crowns we use are fabricated from high strength and esthetic all ceramic materials.
- BridgesThere are three ways to replace missing teeth. These include an implant, a fixed bridge, or dentures. Dentures come in many varieties and materials. Here is brief summary of some of the different kinds...
- Root Canal TreatmentA tooth is made up of three main parts: enamel, dentin, and pulp. The pulp is the center part of the tooth that contains the nerve and blood supply. When the pulp becomes severely irritated or dies due to trauma or a deep cavity, a root canal is required to preserve the tooth. A root canal includes removing the pulp of the tooth, cleaning the area where the pulp was and finally placing a filling in the pulp space. Recent advances in root canal therapy have made the procedure safer, more comfortable and faster than they were in the past. If you have a tooth that spontaneously hurts, is extremely sensitive to cold and/or hot, hurts when biting or has a visible infection give our office a call to schedule a consult.
- DenturesComplete denture - when an individual is missing all of their teeth in one or both arches, this will require a complete denture. These are a relatively fast and economical way to obtain an esthetic smile that will last for years.
- Dental ImplantsThrough advanced training and multiple CE courses, Dr. Gibbons and Dr. Miles are proficient at placing and restoring dental implants. The procedure is usually performed with local anesthesia, and other options are available to help you stay comfortable. With implants, a good mental approach is "there is less going on here than meets the eye". The procedure is relatively fast and patients typically report minimal discomfort. At the end of the procedure, a lot of patients with a tone of pleasant surprise ask, "That's it?"
- Oral SurgeryDr. Joshua R. Gibbons attended dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University. He frequently attends CE courses in subjects including endodontics, oral surgery, dental implants, and pharmacology. Our dentist is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA). Dr. Gibbons’ goal is to make sure that patients are comfortable in every step of their visit. It is important to him that our patients clearly understand their options so they can make the best decisions for their health.
