I called for a cab and didn't receive any notifications a half hour later. Then I called back and the lady notified me that with my destination that it would be 9 cars ahead of me. An hour later, my friend called again with a different destination and 20 minutes later, the cab came. Very disappointing.

I needed a cab home from the Megabus station downtown and Yellow Cab was waiting for me at 11 pm on a holiday when we got in to town. I was taken home quickly and safely and I could not have been more pleased with my experience. Thanks driver #112!

I agree; this cab service is horrible. The cab drivers drink and do drugs while on duty, so be careful when getting into their vehicles! If you want reliable service, call ""Y Wait "" car service at (646) 281-6277. The service is reliable, and you will get to your destination safely!

Avoid this garbage excuse for a taxi ""service"" unless you have exhausted ALL other options. Avoid calling for one in East End neighbourhoods and don't expect any sort of consistency with dispatching. Their drivers, for some bizarre reason, think they have the right to insult people, raise their voice, or get righteous.
This is not NYC. It's not Tokyo. It's Pittsburgh. It's not that stressful people...it's not complicated. Expand your fleet, be more professional, or pack up and f--k off. This way another cab service can come in and provide service in a city in which buses are becoming an increasingly crappy option.

I've lived in Pittsburgh for 7 years and since I do not own a car sometimes I have to take a cab (mostly to the airport). I know a driver who works for Yellow Cab and he and his friends are great. They're always on time sometimes even 15 mins early so I always book my travels (esp. to the airport with these guys). But, when I am in the Pittsburgh (East End) neighborhoods, this company always ruin my day - always late for an appointment, late home, and some of the drivers are pretty scary looking; one time, I had a driver who was neurotic and he really scared the hell out of my friend Jenn and I. Another time, like today, after confirming and re-confirming with the company if they were going to pick me up, they never came. Three hours later, I called a friend to pick me up because I was stranded in East Liberty with my pet (and my pet was nervous and freaked out by all the traffic, sirens and people) and still, the cab never came. About 30 mins before my friend was to come pick us up, I tried calling them out of courtesy - to cancel my trip/schedule - no one answered my call as if, they just unplugged or hit the ""ignore"" button on the switchboard. I had the courtesy and etiquette to call them to let them know that I no longer needed a cab because a friend was coming to pick me up and the audacity of this company to hang up on me!
Yellow cab - you are disgusting, ill-mannered, provide poor service and many of your drivers (and switchboard operators are rude) and too expensive for the quality of service you provide. I hope Pittsburgh will get a better taxicab company in the future and run you to the ground; today this company caused a lot of distress and inconvenience for me and my pet. Thanks for nothing.

OMG! DO NOT, I mean DO NOT use this cab service. I have tried several times. They are TERRIBLE!!! No idea what is going on there. It is thursday at 6:30. We called 2 hours ago! Our reservations are long gone and this is NOT the first time. The only thing I regret is giving them a second chance. Seriously. DO NOT DEAL WITH YELLOW CAB IN PITTSBURGH! Utterly disorganized. Customer service is terrible. Classy Cab all the way! There are other services who do not come up first in searches. Use those. Yellow comes up first and first rhymes with worst...El fin...I will never call them again. I doubt they will care until this really gets around and they are out of business.

First cab came. The driver was surly and complained the whole way from South Side to Troy Hill. After my appointment I called for a cab from Troy Hill to the North Side. The operator said that the cab would come in 20-30min. After 45 min I called to enquire about my cab. The operator responed, "" are you still there?"" Of course I was still there. They had not sent a cab. I was told that a new cab would be requested but that I should call them every 20 min. I called, my phone died, some nice business let me plug in. After 2+ hours I asked what was happening. The operator said that the drivers are independent contractors and do not have to respond to my request. I asked if the operator had any other company that I could call. She gave men another number, Classy Cabs. I called. They said no cab for 1 1/2 hr. but that as a professional curtesy they do not send cabs to fares who have previously called another company. I called Yellow back. My request was still active there but no cabs were taking it. After 3 hrs.of sitting on a cold stoop, I am old and this was no small feat, I asked a total stranger who had a car full of kids if she would take me home and I could pay her. She did and I did. I called Yellow and canceled. I would still be sitting on the stoop if I had continued to wait for Yellow Cab,

I scheduled a cab to pick us up to go to dinner where I was to propose to my girlfriend. I actually received an email confirmation that said we would be picked up between 6:30-6:45. At 7:00 I called them, and they said that no one was coming to get us and that I shouldn't have received a confirmation email. Long story short, we missed our dinner reservation and all my plans fell to ruin because of their failure as a business. I will never, ever, use their service again, and beg anyone who needs to be somewhere at a specific time to consider finding any other way of getting there other than Yellow Cab

I had never taken a cab in my life -- until a month ago. After worrying about it for 2 days and my boyfriend, lovingly, telling me it wasn't going to be a problem -- and giving me step by step things to watch out for, etc. I was prepared.
I ordered a cab for a short trip that I needed to make (Approx. 10 miles) Cab driver drove me to my location, which to my dismay decided to close for lunch - not a normal practice. He was very nice and understanding and drove around a while trying to find a place where I could wait for the company to re-open from lunch. $8 fair and glad to help -- especially after he knew it was my first cab ride.
After this trip I called Yellow Cab for a return ride home. Got a female cab driver, who from the moment she picked me up had an incredible attitude that made me feel like I was causing her an inconvenience to have her drive me the short distance. The entire way she complained about having to drive 20 miles to take me 10 miles. She made a wrong turn while driving me home. I told her to turn left, she turned right onto traffic and when I told her she had to turn around to get me home, she yelled and screamed about how she was going to have to backtrack.
I called Yellow Cab to complain and talked to the Manager, Jerry. I explained the situation and he told me to take his # down and that if I needed another cab at any time to call him and he would send a cab to me - free of charge.
Forward to today - I needed to take another cab. I tried to call Jerry a few days prior to schedule the cab, left voicemail - no response. I called Jerry again the morning of my trip - no answer, just voicemail and no callback. So, I called the Cab company and they arrived within 30 minutes - I was impressed so far. Got into the cab and told the cab driver he was going to have to make a few stops for me on the round trip. He said no problem. He dropped me to the places on my route, while I explained to him the hard time I've had prior with a previous cab driver. He knew exactly who the cab driver was I referred to and began to discuss her religious beliefs - ""Oh, she's a MUSLIM! And we're in a war with Islam....."" Little did the driver know that in his back seat was yet another Muslim that he thinks he's in war against. I bit my tongue for fear of the cab driver leaving me stranded at one of my destinations; however, on my ride home he again started bashing Muslims and Islam to which I responded that I, to his surprise, am Muslim and he quickly became quiet. He dropped me back at my house and I paid my fare and exited.
The trip wasn't bad; however, the fact that the driver put out his personal beliefs about another religion, other than his own, kind of put me in a bad spot and I feel a person shouldn't project their personal opinions on others. I give Yelow Cab 1 Star - simply due to Driver #1 I had and the quick response time of Cab #3

There really should be a rating of no stars for companies like Yellow Cab.
I cannot express how disappointed I am with humanity as a whole, as a result of yellow cab. I mean, you think that a company understands the meaning of a reservation, but I suppose people surprise me everyday. We reserved a taxi to pick us up at 1:00am over 6 hours earlier on a Sunday night, a relatively light evening. The taxi never came, while the phone personnel merely continued to tell us that a taxi was coming soon, while we waited in 20 degree weather. After we finally were able to ask a friend to pick us up, we called to file a complaint, and they told us that they literally ""didn't care"" about our misfortune and were going to ""hang up now."" Seriously, Yellow Cab, grow up. You are a business. At least have your name and employees act according to some kind of standard. I work in the service industry, and I understand that the customer comes first. Even when the customer is being unreasonable (which we weren't) you still need to treat them with a degree of respect. Yellow cab seems to not have respect for their customers, and their open about it. Nothing I could write can accurately describe how despicable the service was and how offended I am.

Review should be less than one star. My family including my 2 young children were verbally assaulted by a yellow cab driver screaming profanity at us after he chased us and pulled up along side us because my husband beeped at him. When I called yellow cab to report the incident I was essentially blown off and told these things happen. I will never use yellow cab in Pgh after this incident and when I have people coming to visit from out of town I will pick them up at the airport.

Raings should really include no star. That is giving more credit than Yellow Cab is worthy of. Twice this weekend, once at the Omni William Penn on Sat. and again on Sunday after the game, at the Marriot across from PNC Park I had drivers refuse my fare because it wasn't an airport fare. I have never experienced this until this weekend. The message was clear. If your fare isn't greater than or equal to an airport fare, I will continue to read the paper.

Called for a cab because I needed to get to Ohio Valley General Hospital in Kennedy Township from my home in Moon.
Approximately 10 minutes after speaking with the dispatcher, the cab driver called to let me know that he had to turn around to head in my direction, but would arrive shortly. He was very courteous and respectful during our conversation.
He was a little lost finding our apartment complex, but stayed in communication to let me know how far away he was. Once he arrived, he called to let me know that he was out front. I got in and off we went.
My only complaint, really, is that he drove kinda fast; reaching speeds of between 80-85 mph, he wove in and out of traffic to get ahead, used on and off ramps to jump ahead of the near standstill traffic, and often followed far too close for comfort. I actually thought he might rear-end a motorcycle with driver and passenger at one point.
All in all, he got me where I needed to go, and fairly quickly once the pick-up was achieved. I just wish I had been able to ...relax... as much as I could have, given the circumstances. But, he was anything but rude or unfriendly. I had cab 124, and the driver was courteous and professional. So glad my experience was far different than so many others. :)

I called the taxi and waited for it about 45 minutes. I called again several times about what happened with my first request, but, finally, the operator started a second request. So I waited again for 45 minutes more, until finally a taxi appeared. Very bad service, walk is better.

I have had the worst experience with this cab service twice. The first time I called, I waited 5 hours and they claimed they couldn't find anyone to ""pick up the trip."" I was stranded and had to ask an employee from Giant Eagle in Settlers Ridge, to give me a ride home. The second time I waited for over 3 hours and they gave me the same ridiculous excuse. They shouldn't be in the transportation business because they are completely unreliable. Don't waste your time!

I have had soooo many bad experiences with yellow Cab of Pittsburgh. I have tried to email the owner, he's horrible and has no customer service skills or concerns. I gave specific details, and all he did was refut everything, not one apology that i been doubled billed using that new mobile bill and had been stood up with confirmation 4 times in one morning, which i had text confirmations etc - i finally got a cab and the back seat actually fell out!! you could take the same cab 1 miles all on the same route and be gouged 8 out of 10 times. More than 3/4 of the cab smell of smoke and left over food. Most driver have poor customer skills and are rude ( yes ocassionally u will find a good one ) Pittsburgh definitley needs more than just the dominating poorly run yellow cab. Pittsburgh should do more regulating on the Yellow Cab Business.... So yes like 98 % of the other post they suck!!! if you have to use them good luck and bring running shoes just incase you get stood up..

My husband called a cab so he could go to work. 426 came, but they took off. I called Yellow Cab back, the operator told me there was nothing they could do since the drivers are independent contractors. Since the operator didn't care and only offered to put in another ticket and have us wait another half an hour to hour, I asked for a supervisor. He said I could leave a voicemail, then he transferred me to a box that was full.
I called back and told the operator about the problems this morning, explained my husband could be fired if he was late, and told them I wasn't happy with the uncaring attitude of the last operator. While I was on the phone, cab driver 256 called. The operator was nice enough to hold while I was on the other line.
Driver 256 was absolutely rude. He told me he needed some info from me, and I took a deep breath and politely asked for his cab number. He told me don't I dare ask him questions, I answer his questions, do I understand. I got upset at him yelling at me and told him if I'm having a problem with cabs this morning I have every right to know which one he is, the first or second one. He continued to YELL at me on the phone, quickly told me a number and asked if I knew anything about it, and told me he was trying to figure out why that number was attached to my ticket. I wasn't sure what number he said, because he was being so rude, yelling and rattling off the number so fast. When I told him I wasn't sure about that number, he continued to yell at me. I asked again for him cab number, and he hung up on me.
I spoke to the operator about this, they transferred me to a dispatcher who transferred me to a voice mail that was not full. The dispatcher said they would send a cab immediately. That was over an hour ago. My husband is late for work, this is not good for him at all, and we still have no idea if he's going to actually get a cab this morning.

I've used Yellow Cab of Pittsburgh at least a dozen times to get to the airport and back and similar trips. It's easy to order a cab, they always show up reliably, you can pay by credit card, they give receipts, and basically do everything I expect from a professional taxi service. During the middle of the night they once showed up within 30 minutes, which is pretty good for PIttsburgh. Not immediate no, but in the US you only get immediate cabs in New York and Boston as far as I've experienced. I'm surprised at how unhappy other reviewers are with Yellow Cab - I have had different experiences.
