Lulu's is convenient, reasonably-priced and quick (theoretically), and has a handful of good menu options. I go there frequently and have had good servers, but 2 out of 3 times or so the service is incredibly slow and/or the waitresses are rude. The last time I went in was between lunch and dinner and there weren't many people there. I stood waiting to be seated until the girl folding napkins looked at me then ignored me. I took a seat and waited 20 minutes until my friend arrived with no service, then when my friend asked for menus she scolded us for sitting. She ignored us intentionally even though she wouldn't seat us to begin with! I like some of the food and the price is right, but I really wish they would get some better servers.

You would do better to go to Trader Joes, but a bottle of prepared sauce, and stir fry dinner at home. Everything seems to be made from one of 3 sauces, with a little something different thrown in. The Pho is not anything like pho. The Kung Pao chicken taste like soy sauce, cornstarch and a hot red chili served over innocuous stir fried veggies. The scallion pancake? a flour tortilla with sliced scallions.. However, unlike other reviewers,' experiences, our service was fine. But we won't be back to see if the uptick in service is a trend that holds true.

I tried Lu Lu's noodle 2 times and I gave up. The food is just ok. The basil chicken tasted hard and not fresh. The other food are ok.
But the worst is the staff at the counter. I order once ""to go"". Even when I were standing there to pay and there were no customer before me, they completely ignored me. I thought they were busy, so I waited for a while and asked them if I could order. The lady with full make-up gave me a look as if I bothered her and she was very abrupt and I had to wait for her again just to get the change back. After that event, I never go again. My friends also told me that they have poor service especially for Asians customer. Just FYI. You judge it for yourself.

I had a delicious meal that was dirt cheap. That part I liked. It was very crowded and noisy with college kids and the door kept opening and blowing freezing wind through the restaurant making it uncomfortable to stay there. The service wasn't that great but they were busy. If you want cheap good food this is a place to go.

Basically with the food, you get what you pay for. Very moderately priced. The food isn't entirely disappointing, but isn't excellent either.
Most notably, the employees here are incredibly rude. I have been rushed out of the restaurant multiple times at night. Usually around 9:40 (while I am still eating) and the restaurant does not even close until 10. In addition, service is quite slow. I have been here a couple of times and even with the low prices, will NOT return.

I have been a patron of Lu Lu's at a minimum of 10 visits. Generally I stop in for a quick bubble tea, which is always very good. However, not once have I encountered a friendly employee. In fact on two separate occasions, I arrived at 9:30PM just to grab some bubble tea, received stares when I eyed the drink menu, and after whispers were exchanged between a few employees I was told that they were closed! Unfortunately for them, I knew that they closed at 10PM and was very annoyed. Bubble tea literally takes five minutes or less to prepare!
Lastly, once I stood waiting to be seated for quite some time when the restaurant was nearly empty (as a waitress myself, I understand that things happen, but this was unacceptable). I haven't ever written a review of any business, yet after this final bad experience I felt that I must share my frustration! I absolutely love the bubble tea, but the employees are literally keeping me away from the restaurant now.

I'm from LA and while visiting Pittsburgh I had a craving for a good bowl of noodles. By recommendation I visited Lulu's which is a casual joint with neither good food nor good service. Having grown up eating all sorts of Asian food, this place was NOT good and the food I ordered had a very ""instant"" taste as if it were made from a package. I had never been there before and when I walked in, there was a sign indicating I should order from the counter. I placed my order, paid for my food and took a seat. Around the restaurant there was one other party sitting down eating their food.
When they handed me my food, they had packaged it ""to go."" I had not ordered ""to go"" and was irritated since I had even left them a tip when I paid. Nonetheless I sat down to eat my food when a waitress came up to me and told me that to-go orders could not be eaten at the restaurant and that I needed to leave. I told her I had not specified my food to-go and that there were clearly other people eating. The restaurant was not busy and I didn't feel as if I was of any inconvenience. As I continued to eat the food, the other party left and I was one of the last customers. I then realized that the restaurant was closing in about 9:40 and the restaurant was closing at 10. After receiving multiple glares from other waitresses and employees for not leaving, they decided to TURN OUT THE LIGHTS in the restaurant. I was pretty horrified, especially since there was still 20 minutes before it closed. I quickly finished my food in the dark and thought about leaving my trash there, but decided I would at least clean up my mess and take my trash with me and quickly leave the restaurant. Although the food was fairly cheap, I think they approached the situation very poorly and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Love, Love Love it!!!!! Can't beat the price! I have never been disappointed in the many years that I have gone there. It's not the typical American Chinese restaurant. I'm not even sure if they have sweet and sour anything on their menu. Best Pad Thai ever!!!!

Lulu's is located on S. Craig street, amongst a litany of other restaurants.
I went there on a Saturday afternoon. I was seated after only a minute or two, but it took 15 minutes for someone to come and take my order. The wait was so long that I was leaning toward walking out. When the waitress got around to me, she was friendly, and recommended a tasty dish. The entree, a noodle plate with shrimp stuffed dumpling, was good, as mentioned, but the noodles on one portion of the plate were stuck together. It did have a good flavor.
Lulu's is affordable, though it's a little more than Zaw's, while offering food that is at best almost as good as Sq Hill's premier takeout place.

This is a nice example of high quality Pan-Asian cuisine. The food is fresh, and there is a concerted effort to infuse different interesting flavors within traditional dishes. But this is not for those looking for high quality Asian cuisine, which perfects the basics according to tried and true recipes. In particular I found the won tons and spicy chicken dishes to be quite disappointing. The restaurant has a noisy, but charming, atmosphere with courteous and quick service.

I've been eating at Lu Lu's Noodle for about 7 years now and have yet to be disappointed with the food. There are few other restaurants in this area of the city that compare to catering to the vegetarian crowd as well as meat eaters. Great value as you can usually get 2 meals out of one order. I have eaten there casually as well as had business lunches there. Not the most romantic setting, but if you want good food on a budget, you must consider eating here. The service isn't the greatest, but it doesn't profess to be. If you want gourmet atmosphere, go somewhere else and pay twice as much.

I've been to lu lu's twice each time I had to get up and get a waitress because know one came to take our orders, and we sat there for a very long long time.We Didn't receive any silver ware or napkins ,the family at the table next to us gave us their forks ,they used chop sticks and we did'nt get offered refills, because the waitress never came to the table until the end to give us the bill.the story is a lot worst than what you have read ,just can't write it all. Will never return again ,do not recommend at all.

Lu Lu's is good at what they do, providing a diverse menu of affordable noodle dishes. While I have had some good meals, they have also been offset by some inconsistency in food quality. Given this is a low cost meal, it is a good value. Like the food, I have experienced inconsistent service. Atmosphere is enjoyable with a college feel.

Lulu's is the best cheap Asian restaurant a vegetarian could hope for. There is vegetarian sweet and sour soup, which we've never seen anywhere else, vegetarian eggrolls, wontons, and about three fourths of the menu can be made for vegetarians. Plus the green tea ice cream is to die for. One of my favorite restaurants!

the staff seem almost uninterested in waiting on you. the food is most amazing, though. the best thing i can sugguest is call ahead for takeout and dont be in a hurry. it is such a shame the service is so awful because the resturant is located in such a busy area they really could improve their profits by improving the staff speed.

The food is pretty good, but the agonizing wait to even order it is not worth it. If the waitress doesn't feel like seating people...she won't. If she doesn't feel like taking an order...she'll disappear. I've probably been there 8 times (close to home), and I have left 4 times without even being seated. 10 minutes when there are empty tables all over the place? Forget it, the food is too greasy to be healthy anyway

My wife & I have eaten at lu-lu's often. In fact, one week we had dinner three nights in a row. The food is excellent, fresh, flavorful, and there is enough of a variety to keep people coming back...like us!
No other Asian restuarant in the area compares, at least that I've been to. The atmosphere is cosmopolitan bordering on trendy, and diners range from university-types to neighborhood regulars.
