If you are into aroma therapy as your basis for treatment and skill levels.... plus prices then enjoy the LaPompnne in Mt Lebanon!
The facials for $85 @60 min are terrific and waxing for $15 dollars each for lip, eyebrows and chin. A regular manicure and pedicure $70 is a bit much. Polish on fingernails chipped three days after treatment?
The atmosphere is great; however; the receptionist has got to learn, she does not reach into the ""Personal space of a customer"" by extracting an old price list!"" She discovered it in a gift certificate envelope then reached into the envelope, immediately discarded it and replaced it with new gift card and price list. WHY WOULD YOU CHARGE A PERSON $200 AND NO RECIPT OF SERVICES OR PURCHASES???

I had a wonderful experience at La Pomponnee! As soon as I walked in the door, the staff was very friendly and personable. They gave me great individualized attention and made me feel very comfortable. I got a bikini wax, and Jayne did a fantastic job! She was very quick and even explained proper skin care between appointments. I would definitely go back and recommend La Pomponnee to anyone! There is also a parking garage right next door, which was very convenient. Hands down, a great spa experience.

I have had wonderful massages at the Waterdam location. I had previously gotten my haircut at high end salons downtown and in Shadyside, and Jessica is even better than them! To make matters even better, I now pay only about 50% of what I used to for a cut. Color prices compare to downtown, but overall, still a great experience.

I received a special gift for my b-day and a suprise pedicure. The lady who took us to the waiting room was rude and did not offer my daughter a drink just me. She was very cold and snotty. The woman who did the pedi was very sweet, but couldn't do a pedi to save her life. They did not clean under the nails, did not paint all of the nail, did rush me through parts of the pedi and only was really good at the massage and she got my child a drink. My foot was cracking and peeling the next day. I am in the field so I didn't want to cause any problems. However, this lady called to see how it was for first time clients. I told her how unhappy I was and she said well we just wanted to see so when their reviews come up this will be mentioned. She never tried to rectify the situation and in my salon we would never let someone leave or hear that they were unhappy and let them leave. Oh and the looks that you get from the snobby staff was not worth it either. Go see Mark downtown at Macy's for $40.00 and you will get the best pedi ever.

I had the same experience as ""KittyBart"", who posted a few posts down the page. I got a gift certificate for my bridal shower, and thought I would go get a manicure. When I called about making an appointment sometime in the next couple of weeks, I got laughed at and said it would be at least a month wait. The woman on the phone was so condescending and rude! Needless to say, I didn't make an appointment. If that's what their first impression is on the phone, I don't need to be insulted in person! Unfortunately, now I am stuck with a $75.00 gift certificate.

My boyfriend got me a gift certificate for my birthday & I was just able to go to La Pomponnee today (9/12/08). It was great! Heather O. was my masseuse & she was so kind & a great at what she does. I received a 1/2 hour Swedish massage, but I had a lot of knots in my upper back (shoulder-area) and my neck. She added more pressure that those areas to help me & make my experience worth the visit. I will definitely be back, and for an hour massage next time! I?m trying to convince my boyfriend to get a cupple?s massage with me!
This past Friday I visited La Pomponnee for a spa day thanks to my wonderful husband. I received a massage, facial, and had my hair colored and cut. I have visited many spa in my lifetime and La Pomponnee is definitely one of the better ones. I see people leaving comments about La Pomponnee being overpriced and snotty, however I felt that the prices were actually very reasonable compared to other salons and spas in the area and the staff was overly gracious and accomodating. Obviously those people have never been to a spa in NYC or LA. I had a massage with Katie that was absolutely amazing. I like deep tissue massages and was impressed with the strength Katie had for being such a petite girl. After my facial I relaxed in the spa waiting area sipping a glass of wine. I then had a facial with Annie that was so relaxing, I fell asleep!!! I then had my hair done with Erin who did a wonderful job. I went to work that following Monday and got so many compliments from my co-workers. I am highly recommending La Pomponnee to all of my friends and will continue to be a client.
I went as a member of a bridal party and we all booked together. Everyone (about 10 of us) hated our hair becuase we received styles we couldve twisted up ourselves with a few bobby pins, not to mention out of the 20 some updo's ive received in my lifetime (im early 20's by the way) this was the worst and most expensive. They took longer than expected so I opted to get my makeup done there too to save time while others still were getting theyre hair done by girls that must have just graduated from beauty tech school. The lady who did my makeup claimed I had an underlying pimple (I have clear skin and had no idea what she saw) and started to squeeze and dig at my chin which was invasive and aqward, finally leaving me with a big red painful lump to show up in all pictures on the big day!!! I was furious! I wanted my makeup dont not my pores squeezed! When she finally gave me the mirror it looked like I had no makeup on and she said they apply the natural look because they like it better despite everything I specified when she was putting it on. I redid my face 100% after leaving so about $50 down the drain (they didnt care that I wasnt satisfied so I had to pay). After being pressured beyond belief to buy their makeup (and they make you feel horrible if you dont) we all left over $250 poorer (just hair and makeup!) and in horrible moods putting a damper on the day a bit and making the bride feel horrible. Dont let them get your hard earned money out of you! they dont know what theyre doing!!!

If you want snotty and rude (which some people in the area love, it seems) then go here. If you want down-to-earth stylists who will work for you not ignore you while charging outrageous sums, go to Alberta Modern Hair - it's just down the street and a much better value.

The staff that performs the waxing is very professional and thorough, however, I have never had such horrible hair cut experiences. The stylist could see that I had very curly hair. She began straightening it with a flat iron and then proceeded to cut. Since it was flat ironed, it looked great. However, once I washed my hair and let it dry naturally, I realized that the hairstylist gave my a cut for a straight-haired person. My hair looked like a lopsided grown-out mullet! When I went back and asked them to fix it, the hairstylist put even more layers on the top. I told her that she should not be cutting off the top, but the bottom instead. She disagreed, stating her experience with curly hair....Excuse me- but I have over 30 years handling my curly hair and knowing what works and she came across as knowing more than I, in this instance????? Needless to say, she really perfected the mullet the other hairstylist started. I had to go to another stylist who ended up having to cut four inches off from the bottom, in order to get rid of the ""mullet""!

This is a bright, modern, gorgeous, clean, inviting salon. They give you beautiful, soft robes and disposable flip flops for your massage. Yes, some of the staff in front seem a little stuck up and could definitely be nicer, however, if you can get past that, the actual salon staff are really wonderful and really know what they are doing. Annie, the facialist, is really sweet. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I recently visited the La Pomponne in McMurray and they made me feel like royalty. From the moment I scheduled the appointment, I fell in love with the staff at La Pomponne. They even called me the day before my appointment to confirm my time and make sure I knew how to get there. When I walked in the door they took my coat, poured me a glass of wine, and offered me a robe to wear during my color service to avoid any color getting on my clothes. During my services, the customer service staff was constantly checking on me to make sure I didn't need anything. At the time of my appointment they only had a ""junior"" stylist available and I must admit I was nervous. But she did an amazing job on my hair and was very knowledgeable. She gave me many great tips for styling my hair at home and even gave me a few samples of products to try at home. Upon checking out I found the customer service staff to be very friendly and they helped me get my next appointment scheduled. I love La Pomponnee and would recommend it to all of my friends.

Beautiful hair color, but the stylist ""forgot"" to tell me that they charge for highlights, lowlights, and conditioning treatments- my bill was over 200.00 ( after the cut, too) and then I had to tip the three extra people that finished my blowdry, massaged my hands and washed my hair!
I liked the color and cut, but I did not get any special treatment for spending so much money.....don't forget the parking fee in the garage, too!

I recvd. hair color and a cut at La Pomponnee last year. The appointment lasted more than an hour longer than any similar experience at other high end salons. Following the visit my hair color initially looked beautiful. However, by the end of the FIRST day I had the hair color on my shirt and even the headrest of my car. This color issue continued the next day when I had the color all over my pillow. I contacted the salon by phone multiple times and was never given a complete response. I continued to attempt to contact the owner/manager of the salon but was never successful. The person I did reach explained that hair color does fade quickly and that I should use a color safe shampoo. I informed this individual that I purchase Aveda color safe shampoo upon leaving the salon and did not wash my hair for 3 days following the color treatment. The first 5 washes (with color safe shampoo) left massive amounts of color in the tub. I essenitally had no evidence of hair color after 10 days and many of my pillow cases and clothing items were ruined (thankfully I was able to use leather cleaner to remove the residue from my car headrest). I wrote a letter to the manager and NEVER received a response. Although the hair cut was a nice basic hair cut and the color initally look fantastic the complete lack of customer service is inexcusable. I would not recmd. La Pomponnee based upon this experience. Following 5 phone calls and a letter I would have expected some type of attempt to satisfy me, THE CUSTOMER. I am no stranger to hair color so this was not a result of my own error. The color was an espresso overall with brown red hilights. I know that red is the hardest color to maintain, but the color leaving my hair was primarily the espresso brown. The red was no longer visible following the first wash the brown by the end of 10 days.
