Barbara Lutz is fantastic! She is the best colorist in the city. My hair was badly damaged when I moved to the city and I was searching for an experienced colorist to correct what my former stylist had done. Barbara completely restored my damaged hair while keeping me blonde. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs corrective coloring she is a genius!

Joe Butler has cut and colored my hair for a long time. He is always available, he listens to me and always gives me a beautiful cut and color. I would not go to anyone anywhere else and I suggest you all give the spa and salon a try.
I recently had a facial with Regina. It was my first facial and I will be making my next appointment with her, It was relaxing and my skin was 100% younger looking. Regina is very easygoing and I highly recommend her.
The owner of the spa, Richel Dambra, is always available, onsite, and makes certain that the staff is providing the bet services to every customer.
P.S. You will always enjoy the quiet and beautiful atmosphere of the spa and the champage is good too.

I got married in Philadelphia in March 2010 and had my hair and makeup done by Richel D'Ambra Salon. I had a trial a few months before and was very happy with the hair and less happy with the makeup, but figured it would be ok when I had a chance to do it again at the wedding. One week before my wedding my makeup artist left the salon. The salon was extremely apologetic and really helpful - they set me up with a new makeup artist (Chrissy) and had me come in for a free trial when I got to town before the wedding. Chrissy did an amazing job and I was so much happier with her work!
The hair and makeup people came to the hotel where I was getting married. They were a little late, which was stressful that morning, but they then stayed until we left for photos a few hours later so they could touch things up. They did hair for five bridesmaids, me, and my mom and makeup for three of us and did a great job! Everyone was thrilled with how it turned out and I would absolutely recommend working with the salon for your wedding.

2 of my friends and I had massages last Saturday. We inquired about the spa facilities upon check-in and were told it was full service with a sauna, steam shower and regular showers. We decided to go before our massages to relax and get the full spa experience.
We were greeted at the spa by what I think of as typical Philly service - not rude enough that you'll complain but not nice enough that you'll feel welcome. On the plus side, we were asked what we would like to drink and were rewarded with a nice glass of champagne.
We entered the ladies ""locker"" room and quickly discovered there was not a lot of room to move around. There are about 12-15 lockers - all of the locks were broken which meant we had to keep any valuables with us :( There were already two ladies sitting in the locker area and with one small bench they gave us a dirty look and vacated - guess we had invaded their space, this is obviously no fault of the spa.
We were each given comfy robes and slippers and with our wallets in tow decided to sit in the steam shower. Initially it was freezing but after a bit of work my friend was able to bring on the steam which was great. Eventually we decided it was close to time for our massages and we went to sit in the only available spot which someone already pointed out is a couch between the reception desk and the salon. Not exactly relaxing. They had cheese and crackers out for you to eat near the couch and a strange assortment of dvd's for purchase.
Eventually it was time for our massages, I was lucky enough to get Nicholas who was great, albeit VERY chatty! If you don't like to speak during your massage ask for someone else. He did a great job and threw in a bunch of reflexology which my friend paid an additional $25 for. The major drawback to the massage was that I could hear all of the other people in the salon or maybe just the ones getting their nails done next door? I get that the Ritz is in an old building but for the price would expect a lot more noise defining insulation in the walls at a minimum and really what they need is a renovation to seperate the ""quiet"" activities from the loud ones.
Overall, I think you will be happier with your experience and more relaxed if you go elsewhere. Oh and one last note, we liked the champagne and as we were checking out I said ""Oh, we really liked the champagne, do you know what kind it was?"" to which the receptionist scoffed and said ""You did?!"" Save your money....

This spa is the antithesis of what a spa should be. You would expect relaxation, forgetting about your worries and everything else a spa should be. Especially a spa at the Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia. This spa was everything a spa should not be. When you wait for your appointment most spa's will have a calm and tranquil waiting area where you can relax and unwind while you wait. Not this place. Here you sit in a small area next to the area where people are getting their hair done and you have to listen to loud hair dryers and echoing conversations. Next you are also seated right next to the front desk. Where on the day we were there the staff felt the need to yell and loudly discuss their issues that day. The rest of the staff was running around and making for a more tense and stressful expereince than relaxing. The spa was also understaffed and they let everyone know it with their horribly loud conversations.
We actually had to cancel our appointment because we could not stand to wait there in that environment anymore.
Please save your money and go elsewhere. This is not what you would think the Ritz-Carlton should be.

Used to go to Ritz for facials and waxing with Rae but now shes gone and I couldnt be happier for her cause that place is crazy. Overpriced. I get the same services from her at Pierre and Carlo and the prices are reasonable. Good in this economy

New to the city - I surveyed several salons before selecting Richel D'Ambra for my haircut. What truly motivated me to give them a shot was the wonderful service I received well in advance of my haircut. Due to my crazy schedule, I called the salon multiple times to change my appointment and each time I was greeted warmly and accomodated without any hassle (thank you Najada!).
Initially I was a bit cautious of the treatment I would receive given the salon was located at the Ritz Carlton and I'm not exactly their 'target audience' but I was pampered from the minute I walked in till the end of my package. I got my haircut and accent highlights from Joe Butler. All I can say about Joe is that he is a wonderful person and an excellent stylist. He was patient on hearing what I wanted to get done and even better at explaining what would be a better choice for me (thanks joe).

This is worst spa ever in Philadelphia! The owner, Richeal is very unprofessional, rude and stuck up.
This spa should not be at the Ritz hotel, they no idea what is considered good customer service, go spend your money else where. They also sell products that are EXPIRED - BUYER BE AWARE! The skill set of the staff is very mediocre, nothing one would expect at the Ritz. The front desk staff is not any better. Philly has a ton of better spas, so save your money and go somewhere worthwhile.

Truly extraordinary. Richele and hear team have created an ambiance which takes the spa experience into an entirely new dimension of well being, far beyond pure estethics. The level of service and professionalism is unparallel to any other spa that I have visited over the past 10 years in various places in US and Europe. For facial treatments, I highly recommend Raeleah. I was extremely impressed by her depth of knowledge, education, professionalism as well as intuitive sense regarding the client's needs. In my personal opinion, Raeleah is the top skin care/facial treatment specialist in the greater Philadelphia region. I highly recommend this spa.

Dark, candlelit rooms, baby soft robes, complimentary champagne- every amenity you could imagine is available to you. Tasty brown sugar body scrub followed by a 4 handed massage and decadent pedicure. Ritz Carlton in room dining also a plus. Extremely romantic, very cozy. Exceptional boutique items on display as well. Fantastic evening!
I used to work in a spa at an exclusive resort, and have received many treatments in spas all around the country. I want to share my experience at Richel D'Ambra's spa at the Ritz-Cartlon, where I enjoyed a most wonderful afternoon. Raeleah gave me the best facial I have ever had! She was friendly, knowledgeable, informative, extremely professional- and my skin felt great! Raeleah really has a passion for her work, and it shows. I'm usually a little wary of having my hair cut while on vacation, but I'm glad I took a chance and had it done. Kim gave me a beautiful haircut! This spa is great, I had a relaxing time; a highlight of my visit to Philadelphia.
Lately I have had some major back problems from working so much. Decided to get a massage. Was told by my best friend that I should go see Lora over at the Ritz. I took his advice and I have never felt better. I told her about the lifting I had been doing and she worked me a few ways of deep pressure massage and pulling. Walking out of the room I felt 10 times better than when I went in. I was walking straight up. Relaxed in the steam room for awhile, took a shower and slept so well that night. Enjoyed it so much, went back the next day for another massage. She was worth every penny. Now I won't mind going to work on Monday because I am already booked with Lora next weekend.
My day started with a facial from Raleah who was the most knowledgeable and wonderful person I have ever had work on me. The total facial lasted about two hours and she made me feel extremely comfortable. She told me what each product was for, what would work best on my skin. She was not pushy when telling me about the products and even told me which product I should definitely buy if I were going to buy any.
Next I had a manicure and pedicure with Carol. She made me feel like completely relaxed. She did not try to sell me anything which was a nice change, being how every salon I ever go to is always trying to make you buy something.
Next I was on to having my first massage with Gabriel. I told him that I am very ticklish and that I never had a massage before. He told me if a massage is done correctly I would not be tickled, he was correct. There was some discomfort which I mentioned to hom and he immediately let up on the pressure and explained why I fel some pain. It was difficult to get up off the bed and I never knew how tense I was until I had the massage and my entire body felt different.
Finally it was time for hair colored with Rocco. The color was amazing but the he was a little distant and not very talkative. The color I chose was a red color, which picked up the natural red in my hair and had many dimensions of color. I would definitely go back for hair coloring here. It looked amazing.
Overall this experience has made me a guy that needs to be pampered. I am tryinig to find a Satruday that I can go back and relive my five hours of beauty at the Ritz Carlton. I highly recommend this spa to anyone who wants to forget their worries and be completely submerged in a world of luxury, relaxation and service. I also recommend buying their massage oil and a product called Vita Leg, both are must have for stress relief.

I started the week in major back pain. Reading the reviews from this website, I decided to go to the top, figuring I was going to pay a fortune at the ""Ritz Carlton"". I was flabbergasted actually. Prices in line with most other spas in the city and overall a wonderful place just to sit and relax? Was I dreaming? The hospitality of the Ritz is legendary, however the spa inside ISN'T a Ritz-Carlton Spa. I was more impressed with the service from the spa then I was with the hotel. I was elated when the first moment I made contact with the spa. I booked my appointment with a pleasant and courteous man, Brian. Originally, I just wanted a massage, but he convinced me I need to pamper myself a little more and I got a facial and a manicure too. Although never having a facial before, I was a little nervous. I got a confirmation call the day before to remind me of my appointments by a woman named Diana. When I entered the spa, a very nice woman behind the desk, I think she said her name was Elizabeth, greeted me like I was a friend. I already felt at home and I hadn't even got into the locker room yet. Although I had a little trouble with the digital locks, it was worth waiting to put that amazingly soft robe on. Yum! I was offered water or wine (even though it was the afternoon) and sat on a couch that was so hard to get out of. They really make sure you are comfy!
Then Gabriel came to greet me and ask a series of questions to help find out which massage would be right for me. We agreed on the 50 minute Sport massage and that's where I went from cozy to mush! Gabriel has amazing hands. Even with deep tissue work, it seemed calmer and less painful then when I went to other spas. Also he did some strech work that really helped my lower and upper back. After the 60 minute massage (I decided to go longer- it was well worth it!), I was feeling like part of the table. It was so hard for me to get up knowing I had to go to the bathroom. It was the best massage I ever had and I will recommend him to all my friends!
After the massage, I had my facial with Ray (SHE called herself that). Not knowing what the heck was going on with my face or what it was going to be about, Ray was completely professional. She described what was going to happen and gave me a few options to impove my face. I supposedly had a lot of blocked pores and didn't know, probably why my face always felt oily. Anyway, Ray was a godsend, a shining light from heaven. My head felt like it was filled with air. I have never experienced anything like it. her hands were like fast melting butter as she put products on and took them off with these warm scented towels. I think I fell asleep for a bit of it during the face massage. Another Yum!
Getting off this bed was harder than the first, but I knew I still had a manicure to get. I have had these before, so I knew what to expect here, or at least I thought I did. Carol did my manicure with such detail I thought I was in an art studio, not a nail room. I was expecting a quick 15-20 minute thing, but she used this wonderful scrub and spent a good 30 minutes on my hands and offered me a choice of polish (even though I was a man)- she meant clear or matte finish. I never was offered that before, and was very pleased that I selected the matte finish because all my co-workers noticed my hands the next day.
I really didn't want to leave. The ambience is so relaxing and the staff was all really wonderful and professional. I do secret shopping sometimes, but this place is never on it. I wish it was! Thank you and I'll definately be back, with friends!

its quite evident whoever wrote that last review that they are completely oblivious to the quality and standards that joe butler exemplifies as a member of the spa and salon of the ritz carlton. its rare to find a gentleman more accomadating to your needs then joe. I have full confidence in the talent, professionalism, and ability to create one of the most memorable guest experience that joe is capable of when I go for my appointments and sit in his chair!

I had my hair done by Joseph and he did a nice job, but not what I expected from the Ritz.
Then I had the misfortune of being sold into their idea of a spa treatment. After going to many Ritz Spas this was a terrible mistake. The staff was most unprofessional and I would never do this again

I was told of the Richel D'Ambra spa after never even knowing it existed. Since I live just around the corner I decided to check it out as I was not happy with the spa that I had been going to. I'm so glad I found this place! I had a fantastic hot stone massage with Gabriel. Afterward I decided that I wanted to get my hair cut when I saw they had a hair salon. The front desk person was very accommodating and placed me with Rocco. He gave me one of the best hair cuts that ive ever had. Overall I had a great first time experience with this spa and I look forward to my next visit.
