On a weeknight, despite the call-ahead seating provision, we had to wait an undue length of time for our table. We were seated right in the driveway, jammed against neighboring tables on every side. The place was a madhouse. Nice atmosphere and colors, although I could swear I'd seen some of the wall art at Wal*Mart. Our waiter was clueless and inattentive. He seemed surprised that we actually needed additional water beyond the initial pouring. He forgot what we'd ordered. Sadly, the food was no better than the service. Lukewarm soup, bland rice, soggy salad, blah blah blah. It's great that a restaurant has opened in this space, and the next iteration, we pray, will actually be worth the inordinate wait time.

I live in Detroit Michigan and have been traveling to Philadelphia for business. I just happened to across Mixto's and think it is wondeful, great food very good staff and the atmosphere is excellent. I think that the whole neighborhood is very quaint and worth spending some time. I would absolutely recommend Mixto to my friends traveling in the area.

There is no excuse for an hour wait for food. I don't care that the waiter mentioned that they were understaffed. This place has been open for almost a year. Fix your problem! The breakfast food was very boring and unimaginable. It just looked like food from a diner. The waitress didn't even have sufficient menus for our table of 5!!! I would never even think of coming here for dinner. I'm sure the wait would take even longer.

I've been to Mixto twice and it is great. Maybe some of the other reviewers had a new waiter or something, but I've found the service is great, the food authentic, and the atmosphere very pleasant. Please give this place another chance, it is a winner!

My dining companion and I recently had the good fortune to wander into Mixto for lunch one recent afternoon. We loved the atmosphere of the room and the service was very good although a tad slow. The servers handled every special request professionally and pleasantly. The food was tasty and bountiful. In fact I, a hearty eater, requested a doggy bag. I'd strongly recommend Mixto to anyone with discerning tasts.

A great set of appetizers every time, really delicious. Avoid the paella (unless you want overcooked shellfish) but dig into everything else with gusto (especially the skirt steak). Don't plan on a quick meal though, service can be slooow. Stick around for the espresso - after all the caipirinhas, you'll need it.

We had a wonderful visit to Mixto. It's a beautiful contemporary Spanish restaurant with a wide variety of choices to eat. We couldn't even decide what to get so ended up sharing some wonderful entrees. The aroma is fabulous, the servers are helpful and quite cute. The foods are beautifully prepared, with fresh ingredients. The cuban bread brought to the table is warm and buttery. You could eat a ton of it! I would go back again today if I could,it's that good.

We ordered and I had got some fried chicken stuff that I did not feel like eating when it showed up. There was nothing wrong with it. The waiter sensed my uneasiness and proceeded to replace my dish with anything on the menu free of charge. I got another dish and loved it. To me, this shows the classy nature and upscale manner of service. When we left they had called a cab and it was ready waiting. Only complaint is that the place is a little drafty and cold. The sangria though good was a little pricey at $24. All things considered I would definitely go back.

Went there for Valentine's day - didn't have to wait to long, and the bar was a good place to wait (their Mixed drinks were good, but the Mango Margarita was terrible - no flavor).
The Mixto sampler was good. The Chicken Mojo was good, albeit basically fried chicken! The Flan was too dense. The Tres Leche cake was nothing special. The rice pudding was dense, and good - no raisins. The black beans with black rice was good. Nothing was spicy, and they didn't have fresh peppers - but the salsa they gave us was good, and had some kick.
Overall, the food was OK - not bad, but nothing special. Probably not going to go back.
What a great pleasure it was to DINE at Mixto. The food was excellent, the service was incredible and everyone in our party was delighted with the whole dinner. We hated to leave and were happy to find that we were not being rushed -- just encouraged to enjoy ourselves. They surely are doing something right.
Where to begin? Horrible service. Mixed up (not Mixto) order. Terrible food (cold, salty, yuck). Unapologetic. Sent letter to GM detailing the experience. No response. We assumed as much. Craig LeBan's review was right on. Maybe for a quick drink, but otherwise why, why, why??? There are so many good places to go.

I am really surprised that Mixto hasn't fared better with reviewers. I went with several Latin friends for dinner, and we all loved it. The food is great--this is not a five star type ambience or idea--but if you like really good Latin food, it's right on. Portions are generous, drinks (especially the batidos) are wonderful, service was good and the decorating is not some kitschy-wanna-be Latino thing... Oh-and it's not too expensive!! Highly recommended!

We live in the neighborhood and were so excited to have the $1.5 million renovations complete and the beauty unveiled. Much to our regret, the food is awful and the service is amateurish, including at the bar. We love Latin-American food, but this place gives the cuisine a bad name. I'm hoping that someone at the helm is reading all these bad reviews, for the sake of the restaurant's future. We really need you to improve. Please take charge.
I've tried this place twice and was not too happy both times. The food was just ok. The serves was just ok. The ambience could be cool but just wan't hitting it for me. I live in the neigborhood and was excited to have a new place to eat but I won't be going back unless they make some changes.
I should have payed attention to the other reviews about poor service. I think our server was new and my guess was that he was only hired because he spoke spanish. His common sense skills needed to be honed if he was going to continue in the restaurant business. My heart goes out to him. I received the wrong dish and had to wait until my three friends practically finished their meal. I undertand that happens, but I think at least a free dessert, free drink, or discount is in order for my inconvenience. I was offered none. The food was more on the dissappointing side, and I think my friends would agree -- nothing to have me come running back for more.
