Now, I realize that "beggars can't be choosers," but my first visit to the Manna Food Bank in Pensacola was not good. First of all, there's hardly anywhere to park. Then you have to stand in line, outside, with no place to sit (some of these people are disabled and have trouble standing)... this took 45 minutes. When you finally get up there, you give your info, then you're put into a very hot, closed room with everyone else to wait some more. That took another hour (at least you got to sit down). Then you're asked some questions and given some food. Almost everything I got was way out of date (a can of soup was six months out of date!) and most of the food was bread products, which was so hard that it was inedible (even after heating). They offered me some "oranges," but they were black. The best things I got was a big jar of peanut butter and some (out of date) cookies. My suggestion: save your gas money & go to the dollar store instead. You'll save time and the food will be fresher.
