Exceptional Dispaly

They had everything you could dream of on display. I was helped by Irene who was terrific. She was technical but understandable. The house looks great.
I would have given it five stars, but one fixture took a week to come in. I could not have got it from anywhere else faster, but i had hoped it would have come in sooner. I actually should have started shopping earlier! Great store and I highly recommend it.

So Much Stuff - Great Staff

My wife and I went in to the Capitol Lighting in Paramus which isn't actually the closest to us, but we were in the area. We were blown away by how much lighting was there and, even though we hadn't planned to replace our decades old dining room chandelier, we simply couldn't resist when seeing all the styles and choices. A wonderful salesperson took the time on a busy Saturday to ask about our dining room colors, table size and ceiling height so that we wouldn't pick something that wouldn't match. We narrowed our choices down to two but couldn't make up our mind that day. The salesperson actually created a quote for us and told us that we could either call her to place the order or order it straight online and she would still make sure we got the same service as if we bought one right there. That night, we we did logon to the Capitol website and see both of the items. We made a decision and ended up ordering it online. The fixtures actually were shipped to us for free. And the salesperson even called us after we placed the order the next morning to follow up and then even after it was delivered to make sure we liked it.

The experience was really fantastic and I'd recommend anyone to use them for lighting.

Great Service

This place has a great seletion and the people were extremely helpful. I was looking for something specific and even though the salesmen explained it was discontinued, he checked in the warehouse to see if he had any left. After about 5 minuets, he returned with the last one they had left! I bought it and it looks GREAT. I would recommend anyone to shop here.

Takes your money, & then doesn't make sure order's delivered

I placed an order in June for 2 chandeliers for my great room. Irene from Capitol Lighting convinced me that although only one was in stock, the factory would be making 5 more, and if I placed the order immediately, she could make certain that I would get the 2nd fixture approximately at the end of August. I called mid-September because I hadn't heard anything and was told the light was discontinued. Irene remembered her commitment and said the factory would be willing to take the first one back and offered two similar but much too modern-looking chandeliers for my taste. I learned later that Capitol Lighting had received a fax in early August that they wouldn't be making my chandelier. Had they called me, I would not have installed the ""matching"" chandelier. Anyway, Irene said she was looking for another retailer who still had the matching chandelier.

Bottom-line, I placed dozens of calls to Capitol Lighting for two months and got 1 return call. Most days, I got sent to voicemail to which I begged to be called back even if she didn't have any news. The few times Irene did pick up the phone, she went transparent and acted like she was the victim at the hands of the manufacturer, because they wouldn't call her back. She was all schmooze and no action. Eventually, I sent an email, demanding my money back and asked them to discount the first chandelier since I would have to buy new lampshades to make the first chandelier look like it matched the second one I eventually found at Restoration Hardware. Took a few more calls, but I finally got my money for the 2nd fixture back but was told they weren't going to do a thing about my inconvenience. Irene said I could speak to her manager, but then I was put on hold for an hour and gave up.

Don't buy from Capitol Lighting--there are many others that offer the same or better prices but really care about customer satisfaction.

What Customer Service?

On August 24th my husband and I walked into Capitol Lighting in search of serval items for our new home. I read the reviews about the lousy customer service but didn't want to believe it - so off we went. From the moment we walked into the store until the moment we left (which was about 45 minutes to an hour) not one salesperson approached us - they would looked at us, but never once asked if we needed assistance. Funny everyone that walked into the store were greeted but no my husband or I - could it be that I am hispanic and my husband black? Don't want an answer to that question, I'll just make sure that I will never go back and I will spread the word.

Horrible Customer Service!

I bought quite a few items in the end of December. One of the fixtures purchased was taken from the display rooms. As they took it down the glass broke. My husband and i were told an oder for the new glass will be made and sent to us directly. Just shy of 3 months now and we are still waiting for the order to be completed. Whenever i call, they need to check if they ordered. The first tme I called, it seemed the slaeslady helping us never ordered, but I cannot confirm that. I asked to speak to managers and they seemed to want to help, but I guess not. When I called for a 3rd time and said why don't you follow up with me, our salelady said she does not do that; her customers call her-WTF? Let me go back and say we have received some of the glass pieces delivere--BROKEN! Capitol lighting is just blaming the company which makes the light, but won't take any blame for their service. I have left another message this week to our saleslady and guess what; no call back??? I am about to write to the better business bureau. Three months to wait for this glass is ridiculous!

Love this place!!!

My wife and I came here looking for lighting and the sales people were very knowledgable and they had a huge selections. We received everything within 2 weeks. One of the bathroom lights came in with broken glass and our salesperson replaced it right away! I was so nervous about the lighting and it was the easiest part of my house!

Horrible Experience

After searching at several different lighting places for just the right lights, my wife and I came across this place after shopping at Porcelanosa. We walked in and saw the great selection and decided to order several items. When I say several, I don't mean $200 worth - I mean $3,000 worth!!!! Before we placed the order we asked them how long it would take and since we were planning on moving into our new home soon, they reassured us that it would take about 2 weeks. Happy with that answer, we placed the order with no worries. A few days later, we received the invoice with our salesperson's comment of 'allow 3 weeks' written out. Unhappy, but confident 3 weeks could be justified, we hadn't said anything (at first) about it. When two weeks passed, we called our salesperson who told us that they needed at least 3 weeks before they pursued to inquire about the status. Neither of my items had arrived to their store. 3 weeks passed and only 2 of my 6 items had arrived. They said they would call the manufacturer about the remaining items and let us know about the status - never got a call back. Called a few days later and received the same answer - again, no call back. Called back the following week, again, not all my items had arrived - no one knew the status. They kept giving us the 'we can't do anything about it' answer, every time we inquired about our order. Every time we called, we got a different person, yet with the same answer. Our salesperson seemed to never be around every time we asked for her. It's now been 5 weeks and we still don't have our items. The store refuses to ship out whatever they did receive until our entire items arrive even under the conditions of my order. We regret ever walking into this store. They've caused us nothing but headaches. You would think a large lighting place like this would grant you better service, but ever since they swiped our credit card, we've experienced nothing but attitude, rudeness and unprofessional customer service. We warn others to stay away from this location as I wouldn't expect them to treat anyone else any different than we've been treated.

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE

AFTER WE STOOD IN THE STORE FOR QUITE AWHILE,WE FINALLY HAD A SAES PERSON COME OVER. THEY WERE ARROGANT, AND A FEW OTHERS CAME OVER CAUSE OURS COULDN'T ANSWER OUR QUESTIONS AND THEY WERE ALL ARROGANT ALSO. FINALLY FOUND A PAIR OF LIGHTS WE LIKED, AND BOUGHT. GOT THEM HOME AND THEY WOULDN'T WORK,BUT THEY WOULDN'T LET US RETURN THEM. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS PLACE!!!
