The Big Sandy Area Community Action Program serves the Kentucky counties of Pike, Martin, Magoffin, Floyd, and Johnson. It is private, nonprofit organization and operates an extensive range of social programs and services targeting low-income households. The organization s childcare services include the childcare assistance program, childcare resource and referral program and Head Start. Its family and children programs include parenting classes, family preservation and reunification services, families and children together safety programs and social security representative services. The organization also offers and operates a variety of support programs, including food and utilities assistance, low-income home energy assistance, tenant-based rental assistance, weatherization management programs, emergency food and shelter programs, the Martin County food pantry, senior services, year-round youth programs and block grant scholarship programs. The Big Sandy Area Community Action Program operates from its headquarters in Paintsville, Ky.
