- Dental ExaminationRegular checkups include a thorough cleaning, polishing, and an oral exam by the doctor. During the oral exam, your doctor will check the health of your mouth, teeth, gums, cheeks, and tongue, and will check your existing fillings and restorations because constant pressure from chewing, grinding, or clenching can cause them to wear away, chip, or crack.
- X-rays
- Oral Cancer ScreeningHopefully it was a time spent introducing yourself and getting to know the other person. Dr. Koenig wants to treat each patient as an individual. We do not treat mouths, we treat individuals. Each one of us has different backgrounds and goals we want to achieve. The exam is a co-discovery for both Dr. Koenig and his patient. It might entail radiographs, pictures, clinical evaluation, cancer screening and some others, but the most important thing is the time spent together getting to know each other. Come and experience the difference!
- Teeth CleaningProfessional dental cleanings (dental prophylaxis) are usually performed by Registered Dental Hygienists. Your cleaning appointment will include a dental exam and the following...
- Fluoride TreatmentIn the recent study, an expert panel established by the ADA Council on Scientific Affairs concluded that professionally applied fluoride treatments can reduce cavities in school-aged children and young adults. Specifically, it noted that a fluoride varnish applied every six months can help prevent dental decay in a typical child and even significantly help high-risk patients (those very prone to cavities).
- Dental SealantsAs a practice, we are true believers that preventative care and education are the keys tooptimal dental health. We strive to provide “dental health care†vs. “disease care†.That’s why we focus on thorough exams – checking the overall health of your teeth and gums, performing oral cancer exams, and taking x-rays when necessary. We also know that routinecleanings, flossing, sealants, and fluoride are all helpful in preventing dental disease. Not onlyare we focused on the beauty of your smile, we’re also concerned about your health. A review ofyour medical history can help us stay informed of your overall health, any new medications, andany illnesses that may impact your dental health.
- Fillings
- Resin CompositeOur office offers white resin composite fillings and we take pride in perfectly matching the filling to your natural teeth. We have many different shades available to ensure the most esthetically pleasing results. Dr. Koenig has attended many continuing education programs to constantly improve his skills with new techniques and technologies to make dental fillings invisible. He takes great pride in his artistic abilities to restore broken teeth or improve your smile.
- VeneersDental veneers – usually made of porcelain and placed over front teeth; veneers are thin laminates used to correct uneven, unsightly front teeth and mask defects to create a perfect smile
- CrownsFor one thing, primary teeth serve as guides for the eruption of permanent (adult) teeth, holding the space into which these new teeth will erupt. The crowns (tops) of the permanent teeth actually push against the roots of the baby teeth, causing them to resorb, or melt away. In this way, the adult teeth can take their proper place.
- Bridges
- Dental BondingWe are proud of the ways in which dentistry can restore broken or decayed teeth to full beauty and function. One of the easiest and least expensive ways of doing this is with dental bonding.
- Root Canal TreatmentIf you have never had a cavity before, then consider yourself lucky! However, approximately 92% of adults aged 20 to 64 have experienced a cavity at some point, but 23% of those cavities go untreated. Cavities happen to almost everyone as a result of some degree of dental hygiene neglect. Because they are so common, they are also quite easily fixed by placing a filling. The experienced dental care providers at Hans Koenig DMD PAÂ know how to comfortably remove decay from a tooth before it progresses to the point of requiring a root canal. After the patient is sedated, if necessary, and the area is properly numbed, the procedure is usually very simple.
- Periodontal Surgery
- Deep Cleaning€œProbing†is quite simple and is accomplished by using a dental “probe†to measure the depth of a tooth’s pocket. The probe acts like a ruler, and has markings along its side measured out in millimeters. To measure the depth of your tooth’s pocket, your dentist gently places the probe into this pocket and makes note of the depth. Those numbers you hear are the millimeter depths of your pocket. Six measurements are taken per tooth, three along the outside, and three along the inside of each tooth. A depth of three millimeters or under without any bleeding is generally accepted as healthy. Above that number, your dentist may suggest more thorough cleanings, including scaling and root planning, or something even more comprehensive if the number is above a five and nearing ten.
- DenturesMissing teeth can cause a host of problems for any individual. The ability to chew, speak, and even smile can be hampered by the need to work around missing teeth or by self-consciousness over an imperfect smile. Partial or full dentures can restore your bite, giving you back the ability to eat, talk, and smile with confidence.
- Dental ImplantsWhenever possible, the dental care providers at Hans Koenig DMD PA will try to save your natural tooth by protecting its health and making it more attractive. However, conditions in the mouth can make the tooth difficult to save in some situations. If an infection with pain persists, or if there is advanced tooth decay, the dentists at Hans Koenig DMD PA may suggest tooth removal as the best option. We will make sure that you are comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire process. We also offer nitrous if needed. There are a number of ways to replace a missing tooth, including implants and bridges to restore your beautiful smile.
