Auto Care By Kenely is absolutely HORRIBLE! We took our van to them for an overheating issue and were told the car needed a new fan clutch. We were charged $500, almost double the estimate. The following day we noticed the car running hotter than before, so we went back. Randi Kenely (the owner) told us that it was normal and probably just a bad sensor and nothing to worry about. Three days later our whole family was left stranded with water spewing out all over the engine compartment. We had the van towed and this time Mr. Kenely told us that it was the water pump. Having no choice we paid over $600 to get that repaired. That same evening as we drove off the car overheats so in the morning we called Mr. Kenely once again. This time he says it's probably a bad gauge and asks us to tow the car back to him. He then has the audacity to try to charge me $98 for a diagnostic check. I refused to pay it so he tells me he no longer wants my business. A few days afterwards the new water pumps breaks apart blowing the head gasket. Long story short (it lasted over 5 months) we had to open a case with the BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair). (Case #SA2008009159).

The BAR forced them to do a complete rebuild of the engine. Two days after and another $157 for additional parts, the new fan breaks apart tearing-up the radiator, so we were back. Finally we gave up since the car would billow out smoke because the overheated heads warped. No, they never bothered addressing that when they rebuilt the engine.

The only reason we initially went to them was because they advertised themselves as being a AAA Approved shop. We also contacted AAA and they told us that as member they would make good on this... that is until we were informed they could not help us since Auto Care By Kenely had lied! They were not a AAA Approved Shop!

This shop cheated us out of $1200.00 AND eventually cost us our van.

I have been a customer of Kenely's for almost five years. I have brought them all of my family's vehicles whenever there has been a problem. I have never had any issues with them as far as customer service, promptness, price, or honesty for that matter.
They have always been completely transparent as far as explaining the vehicle's problem and even showing me the part that they replaced. I will admit they are a tad bit expensive but, in my experience, you get what you pay for. I would highly recommend Kenely's to anyone who doesn't wanna make multiple trips to the shop to fix the same problem.

Randi Kenely, the owner of Auto Care by Kenely, is an ASE-certified master mechanic with more than 45 years of experience in auto repair -- hence, the slogan A Master's Garage.In fact, he earned a perfect score on the ASE Electrical Certification Test. Randi opened Auto Care by Kenely in 1982. In 1996, he purchased his present 13, 000 square foot facility and built a gleaming, state of the art, 23-bay garage, serving the communities of Orangevale, Fair Oaks, Folsom, and Citrus Heights. He has been a member of the Sacramento Chapter of the Automotive Service Councils ( ASC ) since 1984, and he has served as their President. When I first arrived, the buses were breaking down on an average of every 1, 400 miles, Kenely said. Randi has always loved to fix things -- and when he found he was getting more satisfaction from repairing cars nights and weekends in his part-time business, he decided to go full-time.
