About the CollegeLyme Academy College of Fine Arts is a four" year, nationally-accredited college offering Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Drawing, Illustration, Painting, and Sculpture. Its mission is to provide the best education in drawing, illustration, painting, and sculpture through study of the history, traditions, and principles of the fine arts and the liberal arts, thereby establishing a comprehensive foundation for the development of the artist."When a student comes here, they are coming because they really want to master figurative and representational art and to leverage that skill to go and find their own voice." Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts is located in Old Lyme, Connecticut " one of several towns that make up the primary region of the Connecticut River Valley in the heart of New England. Known for its artistic community, the first colony of artists to live and work in the region date back to 1899 including American Impressionists such as Childe Hassam and Willard Metcalf. Old Lyme's central location and proximity to major highways and public transportation makes for easy day-trips to New York City, Boston and Hartford " home to some of the best museums in the world. Just 45 minutes west of Old Lyme is New Haven " home to Yale University and many galleries, art venues, restaurants and shopping. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Connecticut's shoreline, the campus offers the space and atmosphere that allows students to devote themselves to their creative and academic studies. The campus is exceptionally equipped with classrooms, studios, and exhibition spaces.
