- Infectious Diseases
- GlaucomaIn general, surgery isn’t the first line of treatment for glaucoma. But if other treatments fail, glaucoma surgery may be able to save your vision.
- Macular DegenerationAn estimated 11 million people in the United States have some form of macular degeneration, also called age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of vision loss in people over 60. This number is expected to double to nearly 22 million by 2050.
- Laser Eye SurgeryThe three-dimensional map is therefore a valuable aid to the examining ophthalmologist or optometrist and can assist in the diagnosis and treatment of a number of conditions; in planning refractive surgery such as LASIK and evaluation of its results; or in assessing the fit of contact lenses. A development of keratoscopy, corneal topography extends the measurement range from the four points a few millimeters apart that is offered by keratometry to a grid of thousands of points covering the entire cornea. The procedure is carried out in seconds and is completely painless.
- Cataracts50% of people aged 65 and older have a cataract in one or both eyes. As the cataract progresses, vision deteriorates, leading to a decreased quality of life.
- Cataract SurgeryCataract surgery does not typically worsen dry eyes, as only two very small incisions, less than 2mm each, are made in the cornea during this operation. They heal quickly after surgery. Many eye doctors will assess and treat dry eyes prior to cataract surgery, as a pre-existing dry eye condition can sometimes influence the accuracy of measurements, affecting quality of the vision following the surgery.
- Eye ExamVision therapy begins with a functional eye examination to test for visual acuity, depth perception, and visual skills, and assess whether the eyes are working in tandem. If vision problems are identified, a customized vision therapy program will be prescribed to the child’s specific needs. It will include exercises taught in the office once or twice a week and reinforced through at-home training.

- NeurologyNeuro-optometric rehabilitation therapy is a customized treatment program for patients whose stroke, traumatic brain injury, concussion, neurological condition or disease has resulted in visual deficits. It applies the latest methods and treatments of neuro-plasticity and vision function to help patients develop or regain the essential visual skills necessary for learning and optimal daily function.

- Multiple SclerosisA brain injury, like a concussion, will often disrupt efficient visual processing. Vision can be also be compromised as a result of a neurological disorder such as a stroke, a brain tumor or multiple sclerosis. These are termed Acquired Brain Injuries. Neuro Vision Therapy can help.
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)Studies show that many children with learning disabilities also have visual issues that can make it even more difficult to learn. And sometimes, visual problems are misdiagnosed as ADHD or a learning disability because they share some of the same symptoms.

- Diabetic RetinopathyAll diabetics are at risk of developing diabetic retinopathy, which generally presents without warning signs or symptoms in its early stages. Fortunately, by having regular dilated eye exams, your eye doctor can diagnose and manage the condition to help you avoid vision loss.
- UltrasoundAn Optical Coherence Tomography scan (commonly referred to as an OCT scan) is the latest advancement in imaging technology. Similar to ultrasound, this diagnostic technique employs light rather than sound waves to achieve higher resolution pictures of the structural layers of the back of the eye.
- Computed TomographyA scanning laser used to analyze the layers of the retina and optic nerve for any signs of eye disease, similar to an CT scan of the eye. It works using light without radiation, and is essential for early diagnosis of glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinal disease.
- Radiation TherapyComplications from certain medical procedures, including eye surgery and radiation therapy, will very often result in DES. Radiation therapy to treat head and neck cancers, cancer of the eye socket or whole brain radiation for brain cancer, often damages the lacrimal glands. The glands may decrease tear production and cause dry eye symptoms.
- WhiplashThe most affected demographic are children and teens, and of those, more than 60% experience visual symptoms. Older people are also prone to concussions. If you or a family member has sustained a concussion or even whiplash — such as from a violent blow to the head — we strongly urge you to get your eyes examined as soon as possible.
- Sports MedicineSports injuries often affect the eyes and can lead to blurry vision — even vision loss. Consider sports vision training and wear protective eyewear to...
- Physical TherapyVision therapy is a non-surgical treatment program that is typically compared to physical therapy, but for the eyes and brain. Vision therapy uses exercises, lenses, specific instruments, and occlusions to enhance visual function.
