The specialized dental practice of Okemos Pediatric Dentistry, is designed to care for infants, children, adolescents, handicapped and medically compromised patients. The philosophy and underlying goal of our practice is to provide skillful and scientifically sound dental treatment. We strive to offer a compassionate patient approach. Fluoride, hygiene, diet counseling, and sealants for young, permanent teeth are a routine part of our treatment planning. It is our desire to present the highest level of comprehensive dental care that will result in a patient that has optimal dentition and a good feeling about going to the dentist as an adult. Dr. Melvin Jung received his B.A. degree in Biology from Albion College at Albion, MI in 1991. He earned his doctorate of Medical Dentistry, DMD, from Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry at Cleveland, OH in 1995. He went on to complete a residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Children?s Hospital of Michigan in 1997. Dr. Jung is a board certified specialist in Pediatric Dentistry. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Michigan Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental association, and American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Melvin Jung is a diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at Albion College in Albion, Michigan in 1991. Dr. Jung is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry in Cleveland, Ohio where he received his doctorate of dental medicine, DMD, FAAPD, in 1995. He furthered his studies and went on to complete a residency in pediatric dentistry at Children’s Hospital of Michigan from 1995 - 1997. After completing his residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, he was appointed clinical director for the pediatric residency program. Dr. Jung went into private practice in 1997 and has been practicing since then.

**Your Child's Exam** Regular visits to our office should begin at six to twelve months of age as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, and American Academy of Pediatrics. "First visit by first birthday" sums it up. Routine appointments should be scheduled every six months thereafter. The appointments are more than just cleanings. Your child will be examined by the pediatric dentist for: *Developmental and congenital abnormalities. *Appropriate development of facial structure *Presence of dental decay *Early orthodontic evaluation *Precancerous lesions and soft tissue pathology *Evaluation of the child's ability to cope with any further dental procedures Equally important, the doctor will be developing a relationship with your child to build his or her trust. This is best achieved when the dentist and the child interact on a one-to-one basis. For this reason, we request that the parents please remain in the w aiting room until the exam has been completed. After the exam, the doctor will consult with the parents about the dental needs of each individual child. **Follow Up Care** We pride ourselves on following through to give complete care to your child. **Radiographs** In order to complete a thorough evaluation on your child, a full mouth series of x-rays should be taken on the patients beginning at age three. **Appointments** Patients will be seen by appointment only.
