Chenango County Head Start Program is a federally funded program for child development that is offered by Opportunities for Chenango. The program has been serving income-eligible families in Chenango County since 1966. It works in coordination with families for the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of children. It offers education, activity programs and materials for learning. It also offers an Early Head Start program that provides various enrichment services to children up to three years old. It also ensures medical and dental care for children. It additionally provides physical and developmental screenings and evaluates children health. Its workers make home visits and participating families gather for group socialization every two weeks. The Family Child Care Option provides families with Head Start services in a partnering Family Day Care Providers Home. Located in Norwich, N.Y., it has centers in Oxford, Bainbridge, Greene, Guilford, New Berlin and North Norwich.
