The Norwalk Public School District comprises more than 15 public schools and serves over 10,000 students. It is located in Norwalk, Conn., and offers a comprehensive academic, interscholastic and extracurricular programs for the students. The district also offers a music program that includes string instrumental instruction for the students in grades three through five and its secondary schools students participate in band, chorus and orchestra. It also organizes an annual art show and science fair. In addition, the District partners with the Maritime Aquarium, a marine museum equipped with shark and seal tanks and an IMAX theater. The district schools collaborate with the Maritime Aquarium on several programs, such as Maritime Magic, a 4-week summer program providing exploration and discovery of Long Island Sound and Norwalk Harbor. The Norwalk Public School District also has an active parent community bringing together volunteers into the schools for a variety of classroom-enhancing activities.
