Wonderful Learning Place

My son has been attending the Northbrook Community Nursery School for the last 2 years and the whole family is pleased with the experience. He is enthusiastic about learning and is so excited to start Kindergarten next year. I believe this is because of NCNS. Last year, my son had some minor speech problems. His teachers mentioned it to my husband and I at the Parent/Teacher conference and pointed us in the right direction to get some help from the school district. Their early detection and a few months of speech therapy have put our son at the same learning level as his peers and he is now fully prepared to handle elementary school.

We have also made wonderful friends - my son and us alike! We were new to the area when my son first started at NCNS, and thanks to the Family Fun Fest in the fall and other school events, we met many other parents in the area that have become great friends. I plan on sending my two other children here as soon as we can enroll in Parent/Tot!

Our family has had a wonderful experience with Northbrook Community Nursery School. It has a wonderful group of teachers and a great director that has created a warm, welcoming, stimulating and safe environment for our kids. The supplemental programs are a nice way to round out special interests, such as imagination/creativity in Lookinglass Theater, and Music, in Music Traxx, or even Lunch Bunch, for opportunities for additional learning and socializing with their peers. I would highly recommend it to any families choosing a pre-school.

General Info
Northbrook Community Nursery School is a non-profit, non-denominational nursery school that was founded in 1952 by a group of parents in the community. The School's first location was Greenbriar School, where forty-five children were enrolled and two teachers were employed. The School then moved several times in 1953 to the Christian Science Church, in 1955 to the Village Church, in 1975 to the Methodist Church, and in 1997 to the Christian Heritage Academy. The School moved to its current location at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in 1998. These facilities are rented by the pre-school.
