My experience with Famous Appliance Repair is very disappointing. Before calling for a repair, I removed several components of my clothing’s dryer to see if I could determine the cause of the problem. Using my volt meter, I was able to determine that these components were in working order. I set up the appointment with the understanding there was a $70 charge to come out and diagnose the problem with my dryer. The repair diagnosed the problem as a defective Control Board for Whirlpool dryer. The cost of repair was to be $521.43 (Control board $320.00, one hour labor $178.51, tax $33.43) I had to pay half for him to order the part. The part had to be ordered and would take five days. After the five days a different repairman came to install the Control Board. After looking at the dryer, he told me the original repairman was in error and did not require the Control Board. I had three other components, which need to be replaced. Two of the components, he had on his truck. A third component, a thermal fuse, he would have to get from his shop. He said the three parts plus labor would be greater than the price of the Control Board, but that he would not charge any more than the original estimate. I had tested two of the three components before calling for service, and they both were in working order.

After replacing the third part the following day, replaced the thermal fuse, the service man gave me a forth part indicated he had replaced it also. Remember, I had checked two components prior to the service call, and both were working. After the second repairman removed the parts, they were defective.

Previously, I had looked up the various parts on a Whirlpool web site and compared the part’s prices. See below:

After challenging the repairman regarding cost of repair, the repairman reduced the total repair price by all most $200.00. Appliance repair is Not an appliance repair service which I would recommend. They are overpriced for parts and labor. I also questions their repair serviceman’s skills.

Complete ripoff. They came and diagnosed my noisy dryer correctly, so no complaint there. The dryer needed new rollers and a new pulley. My problem is he quoted me $434 for the work. I called a few other shops and all of them quoted $150-$200 for the work. I ended up buying the parts for about $50, and it took me about 1 hour to do the work following a you-tube video. I bet someone experienced could have done it in 30 minutes. So $434 for $50 worth of parts and a 30-minute service call?

Refrigerator stopped working, Famous Applicance repair came same day. Quoted $754.00 for Part/Labor. Couldn't get parts for 2 days, so we had time to price the part in the frig. The part cost $167.00 on the internet-brand new-shipped next day air. This part was easy to install 3 plugs in back. But this didn't fix it, so we had to call another appliance repair man. Ordered another part for $98.00. The blower wasn't turning on. The part they told us to replace would have gone out again, had we left it going. We spent $490.00 by the time the frig was fixed correctly. Had they been resonable, and not been trying to markup price 60%, they might have had the job. We won't be coming back, how can a business like this survive?

My dishwasher was making a funny noise, so I called Famous Appliance Repair before I read all the negative reviews of them. After I saw the reviews, I almost canceled my apt with them, but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. The man came to look at my dishwasher and it was suddenly working fine, and didn't need to be repaired, but my racks inside are rusting so I wanted to know how much new racks would be. He told me it was way too expensive to buy new racks and that he could get a kit that covers the rust. He charged me $270 for this kit and labor. After he left, my husband and I looked online and we could buy that same kit online for $25. Not to mention, just buying a new rack was $108. Both were cheaper than what he tried to sell me. We canceled our check to them and will never use Famous Appliance again.

I called Famous Appliance and they came out as scheduled the same day. My dryer was not heating and so the technician came out, he very thoroughly went through the dryer and diagnosed the problem. He quickly repaired our dryer as he had the part on his truck. I was very grateful to get my dryer back and I was glad to see that honest, reliable personable service is not a thing of the past! They were wonderful and extremely polite, clean, and conscientious. They took precautions to not damage my floor, and left my laundry room better than before. I would gladly recommend them to anyone. They are the best!

This company is shady, do not use them. I called them using their ad in the Yellow Pages. My dishwasher was leaking and I needed it looked at. They told me it would be $40 for a technician to come out and look, which seemed very reasonable. Two guys showed up, they were very cocky and arrogant. Before even looking at my dishwasher, they told me my brand, Frigidaire, is one of the worst you can buy and that is probably why it's not working. Then, before even opening it or looking at it, they automatically said that my dishwasher needed some special seal kit because these lower end dishwashers weren't built to last. They then turned the dishwasher on, and when it didn't immediately leak, they proceeded to tell me that there wasn't anything wrong with it, and that it was probably leaking because I was loading it wrong. I explained that I have loaded my dishwasher exactly the same for the last two years of owning it. They still told me I was doing it wrong. Upon opening the dishwasher they

I was pleased with how fast I was able to get a tech out to fix my washer and trash compactor. The tech was able to get the job done the same day. He knew exactly what my washer needed and had the part. He also was very nice and helpful. I am glad that I have a one year warranty on the work that he did. I will recommend anyone to use them.

We had them come out to look at our dishwasher they quoted us an exorbitant price. When I told him we could not afford to fix our dishwasher for upwards of $300 he got really short and stubborn. He would not even give us a part number to a part. We payed him $40 to come and diagnose a problem for us and he didn't even diagnose it. Very poor service to say the least.

They say they work on many brands but they are not authorized to handle the warranty on my brand. I called another company and the repair was free. In addition I checked with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and this company has an "F" !

Great service, Peter arrived within an hour and quickly fixed my dish washer. It cost half of what I anticipated. I will use them again. I highly recommend famous!

I have four kids under the age of ten and my laundry room was full when my GE washer belt went out. They came out that same day and i was doing the laundry that night. The tech was really good, you could tell he was vey knowledgeable! Thanks Julie
