      The Maryland State Police, established in 1935, offers services for the protection of residents lives and property, as well as the deterrence, detection and investigation of criminal activities. It offers several support services, including gun registration, animal control, fingerprinting, concealed weapon permits, and traffic and parking law enforcement.
