- Dental ExaminationThis information is for educational purposes only and should not be used for self-diagnosis or as a substitute for a professional dental exam and consultation (no matter how much you hate going to the dentist). Each case will vary depending on the needs and concerns of each individual. We hope that this information will provide you with some basic dental knowledge so that you and your dentist can devise a plan to keep your smile healthy and looking great.
- Oral Cancer Screening
- Teeth CleaningTo prevent dental problems from occurring at an early age, start with your first visit at one of our pediatric dentist practices. You should schedule preventative dental cleanings for your children at one of our offices every 6 months. Routine teeth cleanings for children keep their mouths looking and feeling great!
- Fluoride TreatmentAn integral part of maintaining your teeth for life is the removal of plaque and tarter on a regular basis. The frequency of your visits is based upon your individual needs and oral health. During your visit, we will update your medical history, perform an oral cancer screening exam, check your teeth for cavities, review oral hygiene and monitor your periodontal (gum) condition. Fluoride treatments are provided for children under the age of thirteen and for adults when appropriate.
- Dental SealantsSealants are highly effective in preventing decay on the biting surfaces of your chewing teeth. Sealants are a simple procedure in which a tooth-colored acrylic "coating" is painted onto the surface of the tooth. This effectively "seals" the deep grooves where decay is most likely to start.

- CrownsBridges - When teeth are replaced with a bridge, the adjacent teeth require crowns in order to support the replacement teeth

- Root Canal TreatmentIf a tooth's pulp (nerve and blood supply) becomes infected or inflamed, root canal therapy may be the only way to save the tooth, short of removing it. Root canal therapy consists of removing the nerve that lies within the root of the tooth.
- DenturesMany people believe that once they have dentures, they no longer need regular dental care. Denture wearers require regular exams to ensure their health, comfort and appearance. Gum tissues are in a constant state of change. Periodic relining of the dentures may be necessary to ensure a tight and comfortable fit.
- Dental ImplantsWhat are dental implants? Dental implants are basically sophisticated screws made of a medically pure metal, Titanium. These screws are then placed in the jaw bone and rest under the gum 3-6 months. During this time they actually fuse to the jawbone and become osses(bone) integrated. After the appropriate healing time, we uncover the implants and use them to replace one or more missing teeth by fabricating some sort of dental prosthesis.
- Oral SurgeryThe goal of LWSS Modern Dentistry is to prevent tooth loss. When a tooth cannot be saved, extraction (removal) of the tooth may be the only course of treatment. A panoramic x-ray allows us to see a complete picture of the alignment of your jaw, the positioning of your teeth and if there is sufficient space for your third molars (wisdom teeth) to fully erupt. In addition, it is an excellent diagnostic tool for evaluating the supporting bone for possible cysts or tumors. Most minor surgeries are performed at our facility; however, the doctor may choose to refer to a maxillofacial surgeon for more complicated cases.
- Tooth Extractions
- OrthodonticsThe American Association of Orthodontics recommends an initial Orthodontic screening at age 7. Most likely there is nothing to be done at this age, but there are certain issues that are best handled early. There is no charge for any Consultation or Re-check appointment! We enjoy the child getting comfortable with us and hope you will choose us if and when the child does need Orthodontic care. After the screening, we will answer any questions you may have and help you to decide what treatment option is best. We will then review financial information, your insurance benefits and payment plans.
