- Estate PlanningWhen a person dies there are tasks and responsibilities that must be addressed. These often includes the closing of accounts, the payment of any remaining debts, and the distribution of property to heirs as directed by the decedent’s will. This area of the law is called probate and estate administration. If someone dies without having a will, the process is similar however the person’s assets are distributed as required under New York State law. At Bonney Law Firm PLLC we understand how sensitive estate administration can be and we are here to help our clients through this process.
- WillsWe develop strategies based on client goals relating to passing on assets to loved ones, decision making in the event of incapacitation, and reducing long-term care expenses. We implement these strategies by drafting wills, trusts, such as Medicaid Asset Protection Trusts, Revocable Trusts and Testamentary Trusts, powers of attorney, health-care proxies, and living wills. We also regularly discuss gifting and the impact of Medicaid “lookback” rules, and review beneficiary designations to insure alignment with estate plans.
