- Primary CareSome companies pay fixed allowances for certain procedures, and others pay a percentage of the charge. If your insurance carrier requires that you obtain a referral from your primary care physician, it is your responsibility to provide us with a valid referral number at the time of your visit. If no referral number is available, you will be asked to pay for any services rendered at that visit.
- Emergency CareIf you have a packing it will fall out after your first bowel movement. If it does not, pull on the yellow rubber after your first sitz bath (see bathing below). It is not unusual to have some bleeding or spotting from the surgical site for several days after surgery. This should slowly get better and resolve on its own. If you have any concerns please call the office. If you become lightheaded, dizzy, or begin to bleed briskly, go directly to an emergency room or call an ambulance.

- Laparoscopic SurgeryA leader in the field of laparoscopic surgery, he has served the academic community at both Harvard Medical School and Tufts University School of Medicine. He has been active in leadership for many professional organizations over his career, including New England Surgical Society, Boston Surgical Society, American College of Surgeons, Massachusetts Medical Society, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. He currently serves as Director of the Gastrointestinal Tumor Committee at Newton Wellesley Hospital and in a teaching role at Tufts University School of Medicine and Surgical Residents (Massachusetts General Hospital) in GI endoscopy, laparoscopic and general surgery with specific emphasis in GI disease. He won the “Outstanding Teaching Award” from Tufts University School of Medicine in 2002 and 2012. He has also worked extensively both locally and internationally as a tutor/mentor in surgery and as a guest surgeon for advanced laparoscopic procedures, including in Germany, Sweden and Peru (where he is pictured below with Dr. Cronin).

- Podiatric SurgeryDr. Kelemen received his Bachelor’s Degree with a dual major in Biology and Psychology from Boston University in 1983. He then attended St. George’s University School of Medicine to pursue a career in Pediatrics. He was rescued by the Armed Forces during the Grenada Invasion in October 1983 while attending St. George’s from 1983-1986. He completed his medical school education receiving his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in 1989. He completed a one year internship at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami, Florida in 1990. He then completed a two year Surgical Residency in Reconstruction and Traumatology from Golden Glades Regional Medical Center from 1990-1992. He became Chief Surgical Resident from 1991-1992. Dr. Kelemen has the distinction of being triple board certified in Podiatric Medicine, Podiatric Surgery and Sports Medicine by the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry. Dr. Kelemen has been a practicing podiatric physician for the past 30 years. He is the owner of the Foot Specialist with offices located in Waltham and Milford, Ma. In 2018 he started Dr. Kelemen’s Foot and Ankle Laser Institute. His clinical interests include Pediatric Podiatry, Minimally Invasive Foot Surgery and a focus on using his M6 Robotic MLS Laser to treat sports injuries, neuropathy and chronic pain. He has been working with Newton Wellesley Surgeons and operating at Newton Wellesley Hospital since 2020. Dr. Rob loves to spend quality time with his wife of 30 years Cecile “Sis”, their son Brandon and Chelsea their Golden retriever. Their son Brandon is presently attending and pursuing a career in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Temple University.
