General Info
A specialist in sports medicine focusing on the shoulder and knee, Dr. Brown has had the opportunity to work at a variety of world class institutions while providing care for athletes both on and off the field. Dr. Brown also serves as the medical director for Rochester Regional Health Sports Medicine. Dr. Brown completed his orthopedic residency at the top ranked Duke University Medical Center. Here he received training in all areas of orthopedics while participating in team physician coverage for two local high schools, North Carolina Central University and Duke University. Dr. Brown elected to pursue subspecialty training in Sports Medicine and was selected to attend the world-renowned Stanford University Fellowship Program in California. For one year, he trained with orthopaedic surgeons in the treatment of complex knee and shoulder problems. During this time he worked with elite athletes as he provided team physician coverage for the National Football League’s San Francisco 49er’s as well as the NCAA Division I Stanford Cardinal’s. When not providing clinic care for his patients, Dr. Brown’s research work has been published in book chapters as well as research journals. Dr. Brown returns to Western New York to practice sports medicine at the Finger Lakes Bone and Joint Center. His interests include ACL or PCL reconstruction, cartilage replacement procedures, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, and arthroscopic shoulder stabilization joint preservation and cartilage repair. Whether you are an elite athlete, a weekend warrior or someone looking to stay active, Dr. Brown desires to know your goals and help you remain active, fit and competitive. He accomplishes this through personalized attention to each step of the healing process including education, decision making, non-operative care, surgical care, and the post-operative recovery process.
