As far as French Restaurants on the Upper East Side in NYC go - this is hands down my favorite. Authentic French bistro food, consistently superior service, great vibes / cool space. Go - you won't be disappointed!

My family dined here for mother's day. I arrived just as my family had ordered. The waitress ('Annae1', as named on the bill), immediately asked me what I wanted and I replied I just needed a minute to look at the menu as I hadn't even fully sat down. She didn't return until after everyone had finished their meals, never even coming by to see if we needed anything. She actually had the audacity to ask if I was ready to order, and seemed quite indignant and repugnant when I said I guess I would just order dessert. She repeatedly asked me to order an entree. If only she would have asked at some point during the actual meal and had been even somewhat attentive. (The restaurant was NOT packed, and the table next to us was empty). We ordered dessert and coffee, and I had to ask two different busboys to bring coffee. Our 'lovely' waitress, who again never bothered to make sure that we received what we ordered, set our bill on the table and walked away, never asking us if we wanted or needed anything else. If trying to live up to the unfortunate stereotype of a snobbish self-entitled frenchman, she certainly succeeded. Maybe the owner will read this and remind her that a job, salary, and tips are NOT birthrights - that is, if they are still in business by the time he/she reads this.
