The New Franklin Fire Department, formerly known as Franklin Township Fire Department, provides fire and emergency medical service to a population of more than 16,000 people. Established in 1942, the department has a staff of more than 30 firefighters who are certified by the state of Ohio as career firefighters. Its staff also includes emergency medical technicians and paramedics. The New Franklin Fire Department responds to more than 1,500 emergency and fire-related issues. The department supports the Aluminum Cans for Burned Kids program that promotes fire injury prevention for children. It also offers annual presentations on issues related to fire and injury prevention programs at local elementary schools. The New Franklin Fire Department is located in Akron, Ohio.
