Provided by YP.comWe've been buying our ski jackets, gloves, and other winter and summer odds and ends at Bob's for years but the big test of their knowledge and service came this fall - first skis for the kids and first for me in 15+ years.
Pam took on the fitting of my 6 and 9 year olds without the stress that I was feeling for the process. She did a great job of keeping them focused and fitted both with comfortable boots and the right skis - both are excited for the season like never before. Bob's lease program is one heck of a deal and FAR better than wrestling with the hectic rental process at the mountains. It'll be nice to start the ski day off with no drama.
I headed back in to the shop a couple of days later to get my first skis in years. Bob asked me a series of targeted questions regarding ability, how & where I ski, and considered the fact that I would be skiing and instructing young children. You can tell right off that Bob is crazy knowledgeable about the technology and performance characteristics of the skis, and is effective at translating for those of who don't live skiing. Bob set out several options that fit my need and skiing style - leaving the more expensive performance-oriented models sitting on the racks. At no time did I feel I was being up-sold.
My big pain point with skiing is poor fitting boots. Bob took a look at my feet, listened to my past issues, and brought out the right boot on the first try. We proceeded to try several others but that first boot fit like nothing else I've worn in 30 years of skiing. The technology in today's boots exponentially improve the fit over my ancient Lange Theromfits or anything from the rental shops.
The pricing at Bob's always seems competitive, but the market on the better brand gear is pretty price controlled by the manufacturers so you have to catch one of their sales to do much better. It's really about the service and expertise you get at a small family run shop like Bob's S&S - you're not going to get sold by some clueless kid like at a big warehouse store.

Provided by YP.comTook my snowboard in for a tune up and very dissapointed with the end result. Website stated one price and services covered, I ended up being charged a higher price and explained that a full tune up service was done. I assumed that the technician who tuned my board made sure everything was functioning properly but apparently nothing was done. I called the store to report poor service and spoke to Bob who was more than happy to make every excuse in the book as to why the end result of a $30 tune was nothing that is explained on his website and instead of trying to mend the customer relationship and bad experience he simply said something along the line of you cant make everyone happy. I guess you can't try to make anyone happy either in the business world. I used to take bus trips out of this location and have had good experiences doing that so I guess I do have one good thing to say about them, however, buyer beware on services provided.Done
