      Perfect Route 66 diner experience

      This place is a good place to stop for diner breakfast, with a hearty pancakes, biscuits, and omelettes kind of menu.



      But the really great thing about the Wagon Wheel is the atmosphere. It's a real trucker and biker stop - we were the only tourists in the place and surrounded by all these huge mostly male customers, we felt like anyone could snap us like a twig.



      But it wasn't intimidating. We felt welcome and comfortable in the friendly atmosphere. Our waitress was super-friendly and didn't even blink an eye when my husband asked her to find out if the biscuits were made with Crisco or lard. (Crisco, it turns out, so veggie friendly).



      Plus, there's a cute little shop next door which will serve all of your Route 66 memorabilia needs.

      Wagon Wheel is a diner and gift shop located on Historic Route 66 in Needles, CA. Local favorites include hand cut chicken fried steak, homemade country gravy and slow roasted pot roast. Friday night is all you can eat fish for $8.99. Our fish is hand breaded and made with Alaskan cod. Breakfast is served all day. Beer and wine is available and we have plenty of RV, boat and truck parking. Open daily 5:30am -10pm.
