hn told me he was making a "special deal" for me. It was real "special". Alright.

I had just had an accident, and the insurance had given me an amount that I battled for, but I felt was decent. And old John had an 02 Taurus, just like mine- but with more miles. One would think that it would be less than what the insurance paid. Wrong. John starts a sob story, how he just put over 2000 in the car to get it to pass inspection, and that it had a bunch of new parts. I try to negotiate, let him know that we need all the extra money for Christmas. He doesnt care. Tells me that it is going to be a commodity come tax time- once everyone starts gets taxea back, they'll want this deal. Even told me he was going to raise the price after the New Year. I needed car so i could get to work. So, I over paid for an old car. But whatever- I'm in a pinch, right? So i figure hey- it's a car.

Day one: Check Engine light comes on. John tells me it's something they have been working on. Back to New Road. Assures me it's fixed.

Day three- engine light back on. And all of my dash lights turn off. Neat trick. Back to New Road. Assures me it's fixed.

BRINGING IT HOME FROM THE SHOP- engine light starts blinking, and I lose all power on a hill. Awesome. Towed back to New Road. Said it was coil packs. Assured me it was fixed. Ha.

The next week, the engine light comes back on. I figure it's not worth disputing. They can't fix it. Car is running okay. I'll deal with it. I can't keep leaving my car in the shop for days because his employees only work certain days.

I run it for four months. And actually for 2 of those months I basically ONLY ran it on Saturdays. And on my way home one day, I'm doing 45-50 and I try to break to pull into my parking lot. Only to find that my car didn't want to stop . Brakes had plenty of resistance. I barely get my car to stop by stomping on the brakes and putting emergency brake on. And as soon as I put it into park, it revs up to 4000 Rpm. At this point im thanking God that it didn't happen in a hair pin turn, or 5 o clock traffic in Cranberry.

I have it towed to a mechanic- some one who actually knows what they are doing, and he told me at one point the acclerator cable was broken and TAPED back together. TAPED. It was rigged to work. It was only a matter of time . It was a time bomb, and I am darn lucky that I wasn't injured or killed.

If you fall for Johns friendly Grandpa routine and buy a car from him, just know you are taking your life in your hands. Literally.
