Had a horrible experience with Beacon--BEWARE!!! Had significant basement flooding coming up through a storm drain and Beacon sent Ned. Ned told us for $350 he would run a camera through the line and try and determine the problem. We authorized $350 for this procedure. Ned proceeded over the course of 4 hours to run numerous snakes and cameras and at the end of 4 hours told us he ""thought"" that the problem ""may"" be 150ft from the home but he wasn't sure and that he would come back the next day to tear up our yard and run high pressure water through our lines. He then handed us a bill for $1800--asked us to initial work done and pay him on the spot. We were tired and emotionally drained from the experience of losing all our family pictures and keepsakes and like idots paid the bill. The mitigation company who was on the ground was dumbfounded by the amount of the bill. They had done business with Beacon before and said ""you should call the owner--we have worked with them a lot and that isn't the kind of company Beacon is"". We called the owner and our calls were never returned. We went to home depot and bought a cap for the drain and yesterday the lines backed up and we flooded again--turns out during the process of snaking the drain, Ned damaged the pipes so badly that the water is now coming up around the cap. Called Beacon. Spoke to Steve the customer service manager who was super nice and said they would stand behind the job and fix the problem. He sent a technician to the house who wanted to charge us $500 to snake the drain again....I called Steve back and said I thought you were going to make this right and he just argued with me. Said that Ned would call me to discuss and of course Ned never called. I just got off the phone with another plumber who said this is how Beacon operates. Charges a ton of money and has absolutely no clue what they are doing. The owner talks a good game on these review sites about customer service but based on my experience their customer service is worse than their plumbing service. BEWARE!!!

30-minute service to replace an Hot surface ignition (On the web you can find it for $39.99) on a 12-year furnace charged $318.04 ( needed 5 minutes to remove two scrubs to replace it ) + $75 service charge.
On top of that the guy did a furnace cleanup, also within that same 30-minute, for a price of $98.75! for a total invoice of $ 538.51 Including tax.
Please dont use their services if you don't want to be rip-off.

Beacon Plumbing will ripping you off if you have them come to your house for heating or water heater issues.
They replaced a high-limit switch on my 3 yrs old gas furnace and charged me $374.22, plus a $100 service charge.. It is very simple to replace this inexpensive part but they over inflated the price to ripping me off.
Check with Better Business Bureau abd you do not even want to think about them let alone having them fixing your heating or water heater problem.

We own a relatively new home, built in 2007 and therefore we expect problems to be few and far between. Recently, the cold water started to drip constantly in the master bath tub and eventually became so bad that it could not be turned off and ran like you were filling the tub. I turned off the water at the main and called Beacon. It was after hours... ~ 11:00pm so I agreed to pay the $100.00 'service fee' with the understanding that I would be quoted the full price before any work. Plumber Tom shows up, spends 15 minutes looking at the problem and determines that it is broken and cannot be repaired tonight but 'let me see if I can slow down the leak'. Tom puts everything back together, the leak is slowed and goes to his truck to put together an estimate of the 'full repair'. When he comes back, he informs me that he wants my VISA so he can charge up to $900.00! to replace cold water faucet. $900.00! I say no way, then he proceeds to inform me that I owe him $337.00 for the 40 minutes he has been here. $337.00! No estimate as ever provided, he never said hey I am going to charge you a bunch of money. I asked for an itemized bill and all I get is the run around that they charge by 'task number' from 'their book'. I wish I would have done some more looking around because this a complete scam. I can replace the entire fixture myself, brand new from the manufacturer for < $400.00. I could NOT locate one locally this evening so called them for help and instead I get bent over the table.

Don't do business with Beacon Plumbing! They replaced a high-limit switch on my gas furnace and charged me $307, plus a $100 service charge.. It took one minute to remove two screws and plug it in, and I found out later that the part costs less than $20. When I contacted them about the inflated charge their reply was ""we don't work by time and material and use flat-rate pricing"". I forgot to mention that they are not registered with the Better Business Bureau either.

We woke up to no heat in the house on a day when it was supposed to snow that afternoon...not fun when you have kids and multiple pets. Beacon Plumbing's magnet is on our fridge so we knew who to call. The dispatcher was SUPER courteous and promised to send a technician right away. Amazingly, within 15 minutes, Mike called to say they were on the way.
Mike was extremely professional and able to pinpoint the problem very quickly. He observed that the furnace was pretty dirty and recommended regular servicing in the future. He explained that dust build up can cause the furnace to work harder, affecting efficiency. This can also shorten the life of the furnace. We had been very negligent in servicing our 12 year old furnace so this was valuable to know.
It was great to work with a true professional who could instantly identify the issues, explain what needed to be done and fix the problem on the spot. I have worked with other plumbers who would run back and forth to the store to pick up hardware etc. When I asked if it would take long, Mike told me he had everything he needed in the truck and could get to work right away.
We received a reasonable and easy to understand estimate. Mike and his colleague set to work on the repair and servicing of the furnace with meticulous care.
We have worked with many plumbers in the past, but no other plumber has provided the level of professional service or expertise that Beacon Plumbing has. With Beacon, there is no doubt they know what they are doing and we would trust their judgment 100%. It's really nice to have a friend in the plumbing business that we can call on 24/7. I would HIGHLY recommend Beacon Plumbing to all my friends and neighbors. Thank you Beacon Plumbing!!

Was very amazed that they showed when they promised. Very fast service. In and out within an hour replacing a toilet. Mike was very informative, professional and skilled at what he did. The only downside is the pricing. After the work was done I shopped around and feel i was taken advantage of. Also, the bill does not break out the installation costs. It gives 1 price. So you really dont know what they charge your for the fixture vs. the work. Also, when spending almost 1,000.00 they would not have charged teh 75.00 service fee. I feel that should be waived once a service is done. I can see coming out to ""look"" and charging the 75 but not if you are spending 1K. I would shop around before calling them again but their work is outstanding. Just think it could be overpriced.

I’ve been a Beacon customer for many years and I’ve always thought they were a well run, good plumbing company. But today they totally hit the ball out of the park.
Years ago I had a lot of work done and one thing that was done was a replacement valve for my stall shower. The valve was a good one (Wolverine Brass) and I was told I had gotten the Cadillac of valves and that I’d never have any problem with it and that it should last forever. It didn’t.
Almost from the start there was a VERY slow drip coming from the valve but I never wanted to incur the expense or go to the trouble of having them come out again to fix it. So I just put up with it and the few ounces of water that I wasted every month or three didn’t make me feel overly guilty. It was also handy during the winter to keep my pipes from freezing.
About a month ago I had some extensive work done to install a clean out valve and have my sewer line cleaned. That was necessary after the sewer line plugged up and we had a small flood.
It took two days of constant work to set things right but Beacon was very prompt, very professional, and did a good job for us. And since they were out to my house and since it cost a fortune for the two days of work I thought I’d have the plumber take a look at the shower valve and maybe finally correct the problem.
He had trouble getting the cover plate off (the set screw had been stripped and not by me) and he told me that he’d have to come out at another time to fix it since he didn’t have the necessary parts and I’m sure he was tired enough from all that work on the sewer pipe.
But after he left the dripping got much worse and after a few weeks I’d had enough and called Beacon, told them what had gone on before and that I’d at least like my slow drip back if not a complete fix and that I didn’t expect to have to pay for the house call.
I think I spoke to Bill and I was AMAZED at his reaction. He told me that he totally understood my frustration and that they would do whatever it took to make things right. He had David the plumber out to the house within 30 minutes and David was an unbelievably competent and nice man. He drilled out the set screw, replaced the valve, replaced the face plate, cleaned up some of the silicone caulk that had been originally applied when the valve was put in years ago, gave me advice about my furnace, and was in and out in no time and at no costs to me.
Believe me when I say that Beacon has my business for life. They really went above and beyond the call of duty and I would recommend them to anyone with a plumbing problem.

I would not use or recommend this company again. When asked specifically how much they charge to reset a toilet (put a new seal and reset). I was told 'we charge a $75 service fee'.
When the plumber arrived I was asked to sign a service order for $249 PLUS the $75 service fee to complete the work. I paid the amount because I was stuck in an unpleasant situation and had already incurred their 'service fee'.
When I called the company to express my frustration, I was told 'this is the way our company handles all requests for prices'.
Not the kind of company you want to do business with.

We called this place because we heard great things about their service via the internet. Yes, they are efficient and will come to your home very quickly. HOWEVER, their prices are outrageous. I wish we had called around, but no plumber can tell you how much a job will be, until they see it. Anyway, for 40 minutes of work, we paid through the nose. It was not a complex problem, but my husband wanted a qualified person to do it, so we called Beacon Plumbing.
My landlord had to call these guys because of severe drainage problems in my shower.
Anyways, these guys were here in a jiffy. I didn't have to pay the bill so it was even better.
However, the real pro was that they did the job well and I don't think I'll have to get our drains unclogged for a while!

I realized my hot water heater had been leaking so I called Beacon and they sent someone over on Memorial Day (without charging me for the holiday) there was some pretty extensive damage and he got me hooked up with the flood people and a contractor-- the experience was stressful but the guys made it so much easier.... he even fixed my garbage disposal for no charge.... I would refer anyone to Beacon
We got our water bill and it had more than doubled! Our utility suggested to check for leaks in our water service line or maybe our toilets. We called Beacon and they arrived on time that same day. The plumber was very polite and put on shoe covers before entering the house.
Within 5 minutes he confirmed there was no leak in the water line but that the toilet in the downstairs guest room was leaking. He gave us the price to fix the leak which was OK with us. We told him to go ahead and do the work, which he did.
We would have them do work for us again.
We got our water bill and it had really jumped! Our utility said to check for leaks in our water line or the toilets. We called Beacon and they came out on time that same day.
The plumber put on shoe covers before entering our house. Within a few minutes he determined there was no leak outside and that the problem was with the downstairs toilet in the guest room (which is seldom used). He gave us the price to fix, we told him to go ahead and he fixed the problem.
We will use them again.

They showed up on my doorstep on time. The plumber, Bill, was courteous and knowledgeable. He gave me the price first. I didn't worry about ""watching"" him work and running up the clock time.
Not the cheapest, but reliability and dependability count for a lot.

I'll give them credit for having good marketing all over the place and showing up quickly but I guess what helps pay for the ads and the gas is the fees they charge to do simple service...not to mention the scare tactics after they fix what you thought was the only problem.
They did unclog my sewer line quickly $525 later but then they brought in a camera and told me 15 feet of my sewer line was broken and I needed to spend $3500 to replace it. After digging a 6 foot deep 14 feet wide hole myself I come to find out there was nothing wrong with the pipe. Sure some wear and tear but not 15 feet of broken pipe...WTF!

The service technician sold me a 5-year service plan for $543.41 in Feb 2008. Now in Dec 2009, I call and they tell me they only sell 1 year service plans, my plan is no longer valid. But I have their representative's signature on 2 documents clearly showing it to be a 5-year plan.
Be careful with these guys, they do good work, but DO NOT get suckered into a service plan.
Stop Freakin'....Call Beacon!
