Hired BYB to install a back door on our townhouse which was leaking around the frame. Went with Mike because he was local AND a neighbor. Failed to get alternate quotes (mistake).Took an unacceptable amount of time to get the door ordered and installed. Charged 50% more than "going rate" (found this out later).Botched the job COMPLETELY. Failed to rectify all this and stand behind their work when door started leaking again(about 18 months later).Here is what they did WRONG (testified to on a signed affidavit by secondary contractor)....The flashing on side of door did not extend down far enough to block water from coming in. They placed caulk to fill the gap under the front of the threshold, but not on the sides. There was only brick molding attached on top of the gap, (which was not caulked either) and as a result, water continued coming in. The latch side of the door was not shimmed and the frame was not anchored.Door installation is a "simple job" for an experienced contractor. After Mike REFUSED to stand behind his work, we were forced to hire a REAL contractor to reinstall the door properly.
